Watch Out for the US Open – It’s as Good as it Gets!

countdown banner

The US Open may be the last Grand Slam, but it’s certainly not the least when it comes to intensity and live betting excitement.

Although some of the usual suspects are missing on both the men’s and women’s category, several big name stars capable of commanding betting odds are still in the draw; not to mention that there are plenty of dark horses who could make a surprise run or two.

It will be another two weeks of tennis online betting bonanza, and here’s what you should expect in what is anticipated to be a delightful and surprising competition at Flushing Meadows.

US Open Men’s Singles

With the sudden withdrawal of Andy Murray and the absences of defending champion Stan Wawrinka and last year’s finalist Novak Djokovic, all eyes will once again be on the sport’s biggest icons.

Rafael Nadal (3.00) and Roger Federer (2.00) will be the favourites given their status. However, they still won’t have an easy road considering their latest struggles and the current form of the other players.

Nadal reached No.1 last week and is now the top seed, but he showed in his quarterfinal exit in Cincinnati that he isn’t invincible. The same goes for the Fed Express, whose defeat in the Rogers Cup final will make him concerned about his shape.

Federer, with his brilliant record on hard court this year, will be difficult to beat, though there are still questions if he can fight through his lingering back pain.

Recent standout performers Alexander Zverev (4.00), Grigor Dimitrov (15.00) and Nick Kyrgios (11.00) all could exploit those weaknesses to make a serious title challenge once again.

Marin Cilic (7.00), Dominic Thiem (21.00), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (31.00), Tomas Berdych (61.00), Sam Querrey (71.00), David Ferrer (81.00) and Lucas Pouille (101.00) also look primed and could use the opportunity to give some fight.

On the other hand, #NextGenATP star and home darling Frances Tiafoe (251.00) and Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov don’t have that much of a chance winning the title, but they could well make some noise and provide the crowd with a peek of the bright future that awaits them.

US Open Women’s Singles

Unlike the men’s competition, the women’s side will feature several in-form players. The focus, nonetheless, will be on Garbiñe Muguruza who has been on a roll since winning Wimbledon.

The Spaniard, at odds of 4.50, will face lots of challenges from the likes of Karolina Pliskova (5.55), Simona Halep (8.50), Elina Svitolina (12.00) and reigning champion Angelique Kerber (8.50), but she will head into the competition full of confidence after her win in Cincinnati last week.

Former champions Svetlana Kuznetsova (41.00) and Venus Williams (13.00) are also gearing up well for the fight and will fancy their chances in the tournament, even against the younger players.

French Open titlist Jelena Ostapenko (16.00) and American star Madison Keys (16.00) are in the running as well and may be in with a shout of victory, considering the consistency they have shown throughout the year.

Other players and prominent names such as Caroline Wozniacki (18.00), Johanna Konta (8.50), Kristina Mladenovic (31.00) and wildcard Maria Sharapova (16.00) aren’t high on the bookmakers’ list to contend for the title due to the up-and-down season they had, but there’s no doubt that they can spice up the US Open if they can find their groove on time.
