Pablo Carreño Busta vs Stan Wawrinka
Many believe that Stan Wawrinka is the only obstacle remaining for Federer to get another 2017 title, and for a good reason. Besides being the last top-5 player, Wawrinka has also shown his ability to come up big and grind out victories when needed – as proven in his three-set win over Dominic Thiem and Yoshihito Nishioka.
Of course, his latest struggles also displayed that he is not yet in his best form, so Pablo Carreño Busta can take advantage of it to pounce early and control the game.
Wawrinka’s baseline and service games will be powerful weapons, but he will need to be cautious of Carreño Busta’s return game and defence considering that the Spaniard is coming from a game where he saved two match points.
This will be their first meeting on hard court, and Carreño Busta should be brimming with confidence as he won seven of his last nine matches on the said surface. With that said, the 25-year-old should be a solid bet on Asian Handicap +1.50 @ 2.06.
