Cincinnati Masters Men’s Singles Final

Grigor Dimitrov vs Nick Kyrgios

The Big 4 of the men’s competition might be missing, but that doesn’t decrease the lustre of this Masters 1000 final with two established stars vying for the big Cincinnati title.

Many live betting fans might be wondering what the men’s category will look like in the post-Big 4 era, and this matchup will certainly provide a peek of that future.

Nick Kyrgios and Grigor Dimitrov have only met once – in the 2015 Indian Wells Masters – and that will just add more to the drama of their second meeting as both seek their first Masters 1000 title and a confidence booster ahead of the US Open.

Kyrgios is the favourite among betting websites, but the Australian knows better than to underestimate his Bulgarian opponent.

Dimitrov just fended off another big hitter in John Isner and he will be more confident in the final, having survived the pressure of the home crowd rallying behind the American.

His shotmaking has also been exceptional and he has proven in the semifinals—after winning in back-to-back tie-breaks—that he can keep up with anybody on tour despite his up-and-down season.

Kyrgios, however, has the advantage when it comes to form. He did beat Rafael Nadal after all before grinding out a win over the tenacious David Ferrer in the semis where he blasted 14 aces and 21 winners.

The Australian is also difficult to beat when the momentum is going in his direction, so Dimitrov needs to hit top gear right from the off if he is to take down one of the most entertaining players in the sport.

This match is tough to predict considering the way the two have played all week. Not to mention that this is the biggest final that either one of them has reached.

Nonetheless, given his rest advantage, Dimitrov should have some edge over Kyrgios who took a little over two hours in his bout with Ferrer. While Kyrgios appears to be the better player with more firepower, I think Dimitrov can exploit his exhaustion and win on Money Line Odds @ 2.23.
