Ireland need big Rugby Results to catch England!

countdown banner

As the team with the best chance to beat England to the Six Nations, according to betting odds, Ireland has to keep winning and winning big.

England are the only side still unbeaten with Ireland second, and just two points behind having picked up two valuable bonus points. With the Grand Slam still in
England coach Eddie Jones’ sights, Ireland will be determined to chase down the favourites.

European Six Nations Round 3

Ireland vs France

This weekend will be the first appearance for the Ireland Rugby team at the Aviva Stadium after two away ties. A surprise defeat in Scotland was followed by a 63 -10 thumping of Italy where CJ Stander and Craig Gilroy, on his return to the team, crossed the line three times each.

Les Bleus have had two tight tussles, a defeat to England followed by a victory over Scotland, in which they kept uncharacteristically cool heads to come through with two late conversions from the boot of Camille Lopez. Ireland should be able to rattle the French.

England vs Italy

As coach of the group’s whipping boys, Conor O’Shea has made four changes to the team which was slaughtered by Ireland. But that’s unlikely to help Italy when they travel to Twickenham on Sunday. Tommaso Allan is one of three changes to the Italy backline.

Eddie Jones is ringing one change, dropping Jonathan Joseph which may open up a space for a recall for Ben Te’o. Mako Vunipola has recovered from injury which won’t raise any Italian hopes!

Scotland vs Wales

Wales coach Rob Howley was pleased with the efforts he saw in an honourable defeat to England, and Wales fans will be delighted that George North is fit to return to face Scotland at Murrayfield. It’s a double whammy for Scotland who will badly miss skipper Greig Laidlaw.
