Italian Grand Prix
The fastest race of the Formula 1 season is upon us, and sports betting fans are already enthralled by the action and drama that awaits them in Monza.
Sebastian Vettel comes into Ferrari’s home race as the leading racer at the 2017 Drivers Championships, but his record lap in Spa wasn’t enough to stop Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes from winning the Belgian Grand Prix. With the Autodromo Nazionale Monza paving the way for a lot of speedy overtakes, there will be a lot of action for the live betting crowd.
Betting odds are in favour of Hamilton, however: Mercedes’ first-choice driver is chasing the top spot of the leaderboard as well as overcome the impressive pole start record set by the legendary Michael Schumacher. If you think this race is Hamilton’s to lose, you’d get a decent reward for your bet with his 1.50 outright odds.
However, it’s important to remember that Monza is Ferrari’s backyard. If there’s any race in the calendar where the Stallion can compete, it’s in this speed trap of a course. Vettel has much of a chance as Hamilton to win, so it’s actually a good idea to leave some of your betting money with the German and his 4.00 odds. The crowd will definitely be roaring over the engines, cheering for Ferrari’s success.
Valtteri Bottas (6.00) and Kimi Raikkonen (7.00) are also within a shout of finishing first. The two Finn speedsters have similar machines with the race leaders and can pull off a satisfying race to the mostly Ferrari-sympathetic crowd.
Red Bull can also make the race interesting for their two rivals. While Max Verstappen (31.00) and Daniel Ricciardo (41.00) aren’t blessed to have the same machines as their rivals, they have cars more than ready to battle with the best of them. Red Bull’s drivers are also known to take risks and are known for their eye-catching grabbing. The young Verstappen may have a difficult race, however, after a number of grid penalties were slapped on him for his last race.
Given how unforgiving this track is for teams with subpar machines, it’s really hard to see any of the teams outrunning the top six drivers. All Esteban Ocon (251.00), Fernando Alonso (351.00) and the rest of the chasing pack can hope for is that the rainy forecast for the weekend extends until the race day.
Until that happens, though, we can expect to see someone donning a Ferrari or Mercedes racing suit to stand happily at the top of the podium.
