The winter transfer window is the chance for many European clubs to solve weaknesses and further increase their strengths. It’s during this time that managers look to solve their problems and increase their attractiveness towards betting websites.

European clubs didn’t skimp in their January shopping, spending a grand total of £792.7m in fees. The question now is this: did their purchases convince you to bet online?

Ligue 1 saw PSG’s summer purchases helping Les Parisiens return to the top of the table, so many of the big-money moves were made by the lesser clubs. The most notable move is Lyon’s €11m purchase of Lille winger Martin Terrier. Marseille’s capture of Konstantinos Mitroglou will boost their attack as they aim to chase the Champions League positions. Monaco restart their youth movement by buying Pietro Pellegri from Genoa for £17m.

The Italian leagues saw little money being moved around compared to their neighbours. The biggest transfer move in Italy would be Pol Lirola’s €7m move from Juventus to Sassuolo in the Serie A. The most transfer action Italian supporters saw this window was the moving of squad players and sales of their talents to other leagues.

The Bundesliga broke several piggy banks open as the clubs spent good money. While Dortmund lost their talisman in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the arrivals of Michy Batshuayi and Manuel Akanji should strengthen them on the remainder of the season. Bayern Munich got stronger by poaching Sandro Wagner from Hoffenheim. Bayer Leverkusen made key buys to reinforce their attack and back line, while Leipzig look for midfield stability in veteran Kevin Kampl. Sandro Wagner

Finally, La Liga also saw a lot of mid-season shuffles. The most notable arrival is Philippe Coutinho, of course, but there are also other interesting deals made by the Spanish clubs. Francis Coquelin arrives at Valencia for £12m, Yerry Mina gets picked up by Barcelona, and Diego Costa has finally come back home to Atletico Madrid.

These are only some of the most outstanding deals we saw happen in the season. The question now lies on whether these players can positively impact the seasons of their respective clubs.
