This is an interesting time for Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers to meet in the Premier League.
The two sides are situated right smack in the middle of the table and are putting on some serious competition for the rest of the teams in the league. However, not everything has been peachy for both sides as they are on a poor run of form.

Wolves on the hunt for the win
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Wolves are punching way above their weight in their first season back in the English top flight since 2012. They defied some pre-season Premier League 2019 odds and are currently on pace to finish in the middle of the pack if they can keep on churning out points in the remaining games of the season.
One can easily credit this fantastic run of form to Nuno Espirito Santo and the players he has fielded on the regular. Matt Doherty has always delivered on the right wing, garnering four assists in 22 appearances. Raul Jimenez has also been a fantastic option in front of goals and assists he has been providing in front of goal.
However, the three-at-the-back defensive scheme employed by Nuno hasn’t been effective all the time. In fact, they haven’t been especially consistent in the league. Their last three league games were a glorious win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley that was followed by crushing defeats to Crystal Palace at the Molineux and Manchester City at the Etihad.
Given the way that they are sorely inconsistent in their most recent form, it will be hard to predict which iteration of Nuno’s Wolves will be showing up against the Foxes. He can only hope that his take on the 2-4-4 will be able to pull off a result.
Fortunately for the Wolves, they have a very effective 12th man in the Molineux. Plenty of away fans hate visiting the Wolves’ hunting grounds, and the fans should at least provide a stressful atmosphere that should make life difficult for the equally struggling Foxes.
Will Leicester come out of their foxhole?
The Foxes are also showing glimpses of their league-defying campaign with the way they have been performing as of late, but it just seems like they can’t keep a hold on their fantastic form as any win they make is immediately negated by their usual inconsistencies.
A lot of Leicester fans will agree with me when I say that this has been the most exciting they’ve seen their Foxes play ever since their defiantly delightful run to the Premier League title in 2015/16. The team is scoring goals and victories over considerable opposition. Their 2-1 triumph over Manchester City was a delight, and their away triumph over Everton on New Year’s Day definitely makes their annual showing of Premier League 2019 highlights.
However, not everything has been chirpy at the King Power Stadium. They lost inexcusable games against teams like Southampton and Cardiff to go with dropping points against strugglers Fulham and Burnley. This urged Leicester supporters to cry out in frustration and Puel to break character and snap back at the gallery.
Neutrals and tolerant fans can only hope that the rift between Puel and the more passionate supporters subside. Jamie Vardy and James Maddison can probably do something about that by scoring goals against their hosts.
History
These two long-established sides have faced each other plenty of times through the history of professional English football. They have met 69 times since 1934 with Wolves winning the first fixture, 3-1. Wolverhampton won 20 of those while the Foxes took 26 of those games. Twenty-three matches ended in draws.
The more recent fixtures have tight as well. The last time these two sides met before this season was in a 2017 club friendly where Wolves won 1-0 at the Molineaux. However, Leicester spoiled Wolves’ return to the Premier League after a six-year absence by dominating the newly promoted Wolves in front of their home fans.
