Premier League Betting Works just Fine with the Big Guns

Top teams can cope on more than one front; and the Premier League’s giants showed just that this week.

The four FA Cup semi-finalists had difficult league football games to contend with and none were beaten. But there was a surprise for live betting fans at the Hawthorns as West Brom staged a dramatic comeback against Liverpool.

Bournemouth 0-2 Manchester United

The Red Devils responded well to losing to West Brom at the weekend by recording a clinical win over Bournemouth. The Cherries more than matched their visitors in the first half, unlucky to go behind to Chris Smalling’s opener; but Romelu Lukaku secured the points to keep United in pole position for second place.

Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane put Spurs ahead at the Amex just after half time. It was definitely his goal as he fired it in using his foot! But the Seagulls grabbed a deserved point when Izquierdo was fouled a minute later and Pascal Gross converted emphatically from the spot. Chris Hughton’s team inches closer to safety.

Burnley 1-2 Chelsea

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea demonstrated the size of the gap between the top six and the rest by ending Burnley’s winning run with a super display. They were helped on the way by a rare gaffe in the Burnley defence, defender Kevin Long bundling the ball past his keeper; and when Ashley Barnes fired Burnley level it took Victor Moses just five minutes to restore the Blues’ lead.

Leicester City 0-0 Southampton

This was an abject match between a Leicester side which looks like it’s already on the beach and the Saints’, in contrast, desperate for points. Who knows why the visitors didn’t throw the kitchen sink at it in the final quarter of the game, but they just didn’t and are in desperate trouble.

West Bromwich Albion 2-2 Liverpool

The Baggies produced a great fight-back to grab a point, but it isn’t enough to improve their tiny chance of survival. Danny Ings and, who else but Mo Salah with his 31st of the season, put the Reds in control. But a 79th minute goal from Jake Livermore and a late header from Salomon Rondon restored some home pride.

Watford FC 0-0 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace move 15th after a stalemate at Vicarage Road. In a disappointing first half the Eagles showed surprisingly little attacking intent; but they came to life in the second. First Luka Milivojevic crashed the crossbar and then Wilfried Zaha was booked for a penalty-seeking dive, but it was a close call. Palace are not safe yet.
