Liverpool just hates nasty football games like this

countdown banner

Why is it that Jurgen Klopp’s team can blow away the best in the league, only to struggle when it faces opposition from the lower reaches? I bet Jurgen wishes he could work it out!

If you made a football prediction that they’d beat Arsenal last week, you were safe enough, but with betting odds stacked in their favour, what about beating Burnley this weekend?

WEEK 28 SATURDAY:

Everton vs West Bromwich Albion

Before Liverpool attempt to put Burnley to the sword, seventh plays eighth across Stanley Park, when Everton meets West Brom on Saturday. The Toffees have been on a good run in the hunt for a Europa place, but then so has Tony Pulis’ Baggies. The two teams have enjoyed identical sequences of WDWDW, until last weekend when they both lost. Everton pushed Spurs all the way at White Hart Lane while West Brom surprisingly collapsed at home to Crystal Palace. The momentum’s with Everton I feel.

Bournemouth vs West Ham United

Bournemouth stopped an alarming slide by gaining a bad-tempered point at Old Trafford last week to end a four-match losing run. The Cherries are now in that little group above the bottom three; and maybe it is time for Eddie Howe’s team to show some steel to compliment the attractive, free-flowing football he likes to play. West Ham will pose a threat, having been on a three-match unbeaten run prior to losing to Chelsea on Tuesday.

WEEK 28 MONDAY:

Liverpool vs Burnley

Liverpool’s cracking victory against the Gunners followed a meek surrender to Leicester City, and the Reds have recently succumbed to other strugglers Swansea City and Hull City. And let’s not forget, of course, that the Koppites’ first defeat of the season was a 2-0 at Burnley.

The Clarets have won only two points on the road, but are rarely beaten by more than a single goal and were unlucky to lose recently at both Arsenal and Spurs.

Can Liverpool finally find the grit to fight its way through these tough tests?
