La Liga: El Glorioso and La Real Hungry For More Points

countdown banner

Alaves vs Real Sociedad

The games continue to fill our football fix here in La Liga as we are slowly approaching the conclusion of the 2019/20 season.

There is more to than where it came from especially for the upcoming 29th matchday. And one of the key fixtures to look out for is the one between Deportivo Alaves and Real Sociedad on Friday night at the Mendizorrotza Stadium.

Alaves are currently sitting at the 15th spot in the La Liga table with 32 points, and they will be eager to widen the gap between them and the other cellar dwellers in order to maintain their top-flight status by the end of the season.

Meanwhile, their visitors sit at fourth place with 47 points. With them being in a tight race with the likes of Getafe, Atletico Madrid, and even Valencia, points are very much needed in order to secure their berth at the biggest European showcase next year.

Without further ado, here is the match preview provided by SBOBET.

Talking Points

Alaves desperate to avoid relegation zone

There’s not much too expect if you’re a fan of Deportivo Alaves. However, surviving in Spanish top-flight should remain as the main objective.

El Glorioso have been underwhelming even before the mandated break. Their home form is subpar (W6, L5, D3) while their away form is quite atrocious.

The team is still in search for improvement as they try to avoid dropping down to the dreaded relegation zone. However, a lot has to change in order to give themselves a chance.

For starters, they can try to improve on their attack as they have only netted 29 goals so far this term.

Leading the team on that facet is Lucas Perez with 11 goals and five assists. The veteran forward has been the lone bright spot for Alaves thanks to his leadership and with him being a consistent threat.

Joselu is their second leading scorer with nine goals and two assists. But after those two, there is a significant drop off in terms of goals scored.

Aleix Vidal, who was secured from Sevilla via loan last year, has yet to make his presence felt for Alaves, although the 30-year-old right-back has churned out two goals and four assists so far.

Alaves would be more than eager to bounce back after a disheartening 2-0 loss against Espanyol last matchday.

However, Alaves are on the wrong end of La Liga 2020 news ahead of this Friday, as their goalkeeper in Fernando Pacheco is considered doubtful. During the last time out, Pacheco was sent off via a red card in the 19th minute.

Real Sociedad seeking to keep Champions League dreams alive

A Champions League berth beckons Real Sociedad, and all they have to do is to make sure they stay at where they are by season’s end.

Record-wise, they are on track as they are undefeated in five of their last six. But La Real hit a fork on the road in their first game since the restart.

Against Osasuna, Real Sociedad showed some rust early when they conceded a goal from Adrian Lopez. It took a heroic effort from Mikel Oyarzabal in the 61st minute in order to save themselves a point.

Oyarzabal and Jose have been lethal this term, scoring 18 goals and dishing out seven assists while Alexander Isak and Portu accounted for 14 goals and nine assists.

But moving forward, the wildcard for Imanol Alguacil’s side will be Martin Odegaard. The young Norwegian has enjoyed a decent campaign in La Real and he expressed his full commitment to stay with the team to see out his two-year loan spell.

History

Overall, these two clubs have met each other 45 times.

Real Sociedad holds a significant edge in their head-to-heads by winning in 23 fixtures while Alaves won 14 times along with eight draws.

These two last met back in September 2019, where Real Sociedad notched a dominating 3-0 win against Deportivo Alaves with Willian Jose and Mikel Oyarzabal on target.

El Glorioso’s last win against La Real dates back to September 2018 where they tallied a 1-0 clean sheet.

Betting Tip

Our latest La Liga 2020 odds have Real Sociedad as the hot favourites in the 1×2 market. They are priced at 1.99 compared to only 3.70 for Alaves and a draw pegged at 3.35.

With a huge disparity between these two club talent-wise, it’s easy to pick Real Sociedad to be the winners in this upcoming match.

La Real have a ton of options up front who can definitely supply the much needed goals and they have a decent backline that can make life hard for Alaves.
