La Liga: Atletico Madrid Aim to Keep Pristine Record Intact

Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid

League leaders Atletico Madrid are set to travel to the Reale Seguros Stadium facing Real Sociedad on Saturday in the fourth match day of the La Liga.

Los Rojiblancos will look to maintain their torrid start after winning in all of their first three fixtures.  On the other hand, La Real are hoping that their first home game of the season would turn things around for the better.

Many pundits have dubbed Atletico Madrid to be one of the hot favourites for this term because of their depth and the excellent coaching of Diego Simeone, and that’s not a farfetched idea as they’ve spent a whole lot for their players last summer.

Real Sociedad, meanwhile, looks to have all the potential to end up in the top six, but their inconsistency continues to hold them back so far.

Can the home team put a blemish on Atleti’s perfect slate? Or will Los Rojiblancos continue La Real’s misery?

Allow SBOBET to give you an overview on these two clubs ahead on their upcoming match.

Talking Points

Who can stop Atletico Madrid?

Lower-ranked teams like Getafe CF, Leganes, and Eibar didn’t have much luck when they got their chance over these past few weeks, but who can blame them?

Diego Simeone and the rest of his crew have been out on a mission since the first match day, and guys like Saul Niguez, Diego Costa, Koke, and Marcos Llorente have all stepped up.

Atletico Madrid currently sits on the top of La Liga table with 2 points ahead of Athletic Bilbao

And of course we won’t forget Joao Felix, who has lived up to the billing on being their star this term. The 19-year-old striker is primed to be the club’s main attacking threat for years to come, especially with Antoine Griezmann now out of the door.

Despite scoring just five goals this term, Atletico Madrid looked unstoppable thanks to their impenetrable defence. With Jan Oblak manning the goal keeper position and Kieran Trippier at the right-back, good luck at getting past that if you’re La Real on offence.

After suffering a knee injury in the past few weeks, Alvaro Morata might return soon in the lineup for Diego Simeone. Once he gets his legs back underneath him, he and Joao Felix will certainly be the one-two punch that will produce some of the best La Liga 2019 highlights.

Can Real Sociedad live up to their potential?

So far they haven’t, even if they featured their new-look this season.

Since taking over the helm last December, manager Imanol Alguacil wasted no time in revamping his team by leading them to the ninth spot in the table last term and by investing in some of the sport’s up-and-coming stars.

Young standouts in Mikel Oyarzabal, Alexander Isak, and Martin Odegaard are expected to spearhead Real Sociedad’s attack, but the results have been underwhelming in their first three games as they managed to only score one goal.

However, you can’t fault them for trying, especially in their loss against Athletic Bilbao at the Basque Derby. A few calls here and there could’ve given them the much-needed momentum coming into this match against the league leaders.

Midfielder Asier Illarramendi will be sidelined up until November after suffering an ankle injury in their last game, while Nacho Monreal is expected to make his La Real debut soon after joining from Arsenal last August.

Nevertheless, Imanol Alguacil will have to figure out something to avert disaster this season and he would need to find the answers as soon as possible.

History

Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid have faced each other 24 times for the last 14 years with Atleti winning in 16 and La Real winning in six. There have been two draws between them at that span.

Atletico’s last visit to the Reale Seguros Stadium ended in a 2-0 victory and they swept their season series against Real Sociedad last season.

Real Sociedad are hoping to obtain a home win against Atletico and they last achieved that back in April 2018 with a 3-0 victory.

Betting Tip

??
Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid Atletico Madrid Asian Handicap +0.00 @1.51
September 15, 00:30 (GMT+8)

For this game, Atletico Madrid is at 2.16 to win, while Real Sociedad is placed at 3.35. The La Liga 2019 odds for a draw between these two clubs are at 3.20.

Being loaded on all fronts, expect Diego Simeone’s side to add Real Sociedad to their list of growing victims. They arguably have the best defence in all of Europe and they will capitalise on any mistakes that their opponents will make.

This game is theirs to lose and if this continues, they might just win their first La Liga title since 2014.

A safe prediction is a 2-0 victory in favor of Atletico Madrid.
