Karim’s the Man for Real in Epic Victory

Real Madrid 2-2 (4-3 on agg.) Bayern Munich

Karim Benzema hit a vital double at the Santiago Bernabeu in a pulsating battle which sees Real Madrid in the Champions League final, and FC Bayern out.

Los Blancos are now the top tips on betting websites, and with football betting pundits, to win a third consecutive title, but they had to defend like tigers to keep out a massive onslaught from the visitors.

In an explosive start, the live betting odds swung back and forth as Bayern got just the lift they needed when Joshua Kimmich latched on to a Thomas Muller cross to fire home, in only the third minute of the match. But the lead lasted just eight more; Marcelo put in a beautiful cross from the left and Karim Benzema was on hand to head the equaliser with the visitors’ defence looking strangely statuesque.

The Germans dominated much of the first half and should have at least levelled the tie, particularly when James Rodriguez was presented with an open goal after Keylor Navas has saved from Robert Lewandowski, but the Colombian blazed over.

And they were made to pay for their wastefulness just a minute into the second half when Benzema struck again; and it was a nightmare for Bayern keeper Sven Ulreich, who slipped when a sloppy back pass came his way, leaving the Real striker the easiest of tap-ins.

With two goals to score the visitors went for it and how! Navas had to save smartly from a deflected David Alaba shot, before Lewandowski looked like he had a case for a penalty when Sergio Ramos kicked him in the box. But then, just after the hour, James made amends, sliding the ball under Navas to make it 2-2 on the night and set up a dramatic finish.

Bayern continued to press and Tolisso forced a great save from Navas, and then as James looked sure to fire his second Raphael put in a great block. There was even time, in the dying moments, for man-of-the-match Navas to come out bravely to deny Lewandowski.

And that was that…what a game! Next up it’s Liverpool in Rome and if we get half the drama we had in Spain…we’re in for another treat.
