K-League: Ulsan Plan to Give Busan More Woes

countdown banner

Ulsan Hyundai vs Busan I.Park

Busan I.Park have yet to find their groove in this 2020 K-League season, and they will face another tough test when they visit Ulsan Hyundai at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium this weekend.

The newly promoted side sank to the bottom of the table after losing against Jeonbuk and Pohang, and Cho Deok-je’s men will face an even more daunting task on their next game.

Ulsan Hyundai, on the other hand, continue their revenge tour for the championship. The runners-up of last season have been taking care of business when they asserted their dominance against the Suwon Bluewings and Sangju Sangmu in their opener.

With Ulsan Hyundai being heavily favoured in our K-League 2020 odds, this match looks to be a sure victory for the home team come Saturday. But can Busan I.Park pull off the improbable despite being placed at only 5.60 in the 1×2 market?

The great thing about football is that anything is possible. And with that said, allow SBOBET to give a preview of this match ahead of the weekend.

Talking Points

Ulsan Hyundai remain unscathed despite being tested

The Horangi came out on top once more when they defeated the Suwon Bluewings, but they were pushed to the limit since the match came down to the wire.

The Bluewings made some key changes to their starting lineup which clearly caught Ulsan Hyundai by surprise. Instead of depending fully on Adam Taggart to spearhead their attack, Lee Lim-saeng decided to put Han Eui-kwon and Sulejman Krpic at the forward positions.

After struggling to create any K-League 2020 highlights in the first 40 minutes, the Suwon Bluewings scored the first goal of the match via a wonder goal from Ko Seung-Beom as they take the lead after the first half.

However, the second half was a different story altogether as top scorer Junior Negrao pumped in a goal in the 53rd minute, and Kim In-sung took the lead for Ulsan when he scored his own seven minutes later.

When the Suwon Bluewings drew level with a goal of their own, Junior Negrao put the nail in the coffin when he found the back of the net during the 88th minute. 3-2 was the final tally in this tense affair.

The Bluewings gave the visitors all they could handle especially since Ulsan appeared to be complacent particularly in the first half. But overall, this was a good test for Ulsan and they cannot afford any more slip-ups if they want to stay on top of the K-League table.

Busan I.Park plan brush off mini-slump

We all know that Busan I.Park are more than happy to make it back to top-flight since 2015, but this team should look past that as they continue to hunt for their first win.

After a lacklustre first matchday, Busan went back home to deal with the defending champions, the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Although the match ended with a disappointing 2-1 loss, Busan shouldn’t feel too down given the effort that they had.

Despite leading 1-0 after the first half of action, the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors struggled mightily in the second half when they couldn’t keep up with the frenetic pace by Busan.

During the 60th minute, Kim Jin-su fouled Lee Dong-jun in what was a crucial call, and then Busan’s talisman Romulo stepped up to draw level against the defending champions.

Busan I.Park continued to push the pace as they generated multiple chances, but they failed to capitalise.

Eventually, the defending titlists showed their championship mettle when Lars Veldwijk sparked a key attack which landed them their second and final goal of the evening.

Overall, Busan’s defence has improved compared to when they first faced Pohang in their opening match. But their fatigue and vulnerability in the air are still works in progress for Cho Deok-je’s side.

History

Ulsan Hyundai have dominated Busan I.Park in their overall head-to-head matchup as they’ve won 13 out of their 26 games. Busan I.Park have won in only six along with seven draws.

Busan’s last victory over Ulsan dates way back to June 2015 and this will be the first time that they’ll face each other again since Busan is a newly promoted side for this campaign.

Betting Tip

??
Ulsan Hyundai vs Busan I.Park Ulsan Hyundai Asian Handicap -1.00 @1.88
May 24, 18:00 GMT+8

With Ulsan Hyundai having a very stacked deck, expect them to put on a show in front of their home crowd come Saturday. They are after all placed at 1.52 in the 1×2 market.

Busan I.Park may try to make the home team a little uncomfortable with their gritty play and hard work. However, their glaring weaknesses on the defencive end may deal them their third loss in a row against a potent Ulsan offence.
