K-League: Ulsan Eager to Make a Statement Against Jeonbuk

countdown banner

Ulsan Hyundai vs Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors

Two of the Korean top-flight heavyweights will figure in a clash of epic proportions as the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors visit their rivals in Ulsan Hyundai at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium this weekend.

It’s one of the matches that football fans have been waiting for here in the K-League, especially since these two proud clubs continue to go at it for the much-coveted championship.

Ulsan and Jeonbuk are occupying the top two spots of the K-League standings and a solitary point is what separates them for now – with the defending champions having 21 points while last year’s runner-ups have 20.

A win for either of these teams will create a ripple effect across the league as getting the lead in points will surely boost their K-League 2020 odds for winning this season’s championship.

It is still early, but still, this should be considered as a can’t-miss fixture.

The excitement ahead of this match is quite warranted since both teams are more than capable of producing some of this season’s top K-League 2020 highlights.

And as always, SBOBET is here to bring you the action with this match preview.

Talking Points

Ulsan Hyundai looking scary at the attack

There’s a reason why the Horangi remain the only undefeated club left in the K-League.

From holding their own at the back to scoring goals in bunches, Kim Do-hoon and his men are clearly on a mission to prove their doubters wrong this year.

They have the league’s top scorer in Junior Negrao who has dropped nine goals so far this term and he is being supported by Lee Chung-yong, who was their marquee signing with three goals already.

Along with those two, the addition of Yoon Bit-garam has been big as well in the central midfield where he is their Swiss army knife.

On the other side of the field, they have only conceded four goals as of this writing and they have posted four straight clean sheets.

Ulsan are fresh off of a win against FC Seoul during the last time out with a 2-0 tally. Prior to that, they’ve also shut down the likes of Seongnam FC, Gangwon FC, and the Pohang Steelers – who owns the second highest goal count so far with 15.

With an in-form Ulsan club firing on all cylinders, Jeonbuk will have a lot to deal with on their plate come Sunday.

Jeonbuk have a big target on their backs

Winning the championship is one thing, but defending it is a whole another animal in itself.

With Jeonbuk coming into this season as the reigning titlists, the other teams in the K-League have obviously marked them into their respective calendars.

After seven victories and losing only once, Jose Morais and his men sit on top of the standings with 21 points.

However, despite leading the league as of the moment, I believe that this team has yet to reach their peak.

Their recent play has been underwhelming despite the favourable results. In their last three fixtures, they notched identical 1-0 tallies against Incheon United and Gwangju FC and they almost lost against the Pohang Steelers.

Jeonbuk have the pieces to make it work as they have their leading scorers in Han Gyo-won and Lee Dong-gook who have recorded four goals each.

Cho Kyu-sung, Lars Veldwijk, and Takahiro Kunimoto will be the x-factors for this team, and if they can find their rhythm sooner or later, Jeonbuk will be quite a handful to deal with.

History

Ulsan and Jeonbuk have quite the history in Korean’s top-flight league.

In the 41 matches that they’ve faced each other, it is Jeonbuk who have had the upper hand in the overall head-to-heads with 20 victories while Ulsan won in only seven times along with 14 draws.

These two figured in an epic title race last season as both of them ended the season level in points. However, Jeonbuk were awarded the K-League championship because of their superior goal difference compared to the Horangi.

What a difference a single goal can make and for sure this match will not be taken for granted by both Ulsan and Jeonbuk alike.

Betting Tip

??
Ulsan Hyundai vs Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors Draw 1×2 @ 3.05
June 28, 17:00 )GMT+8)

With Ulsan missing out on the championship last term, they are expected to come out with a vengeance for this weekend’s matchup.

Our latest betting odds in the 1×2 market point to a close match ahead with Ulsan being priced at 2.81 while Jeonbuk are priced at 2.53 and a draw is at 3.05.

Kim Do-hoon’s side have been in superb form as of late and playing at home might give themselves a slight advantage.

However, you can’t just write off the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors given that they are the defending champions. And while their recent results have been underwhelming by their standards, expect the Jose Morais-mentored squad to give it all they got this Sunday.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
