K-League: Incheon and Suwon Battle For Survival

countdown banner

Incheon United vs Suwon Bluewings

Incheon United and Suwon Bluewings are in deep trouble. They are two of the worst teams in the K-League and they are aiming to avoid relegation.

They’ve had a hard time in keeping up against the best clubs in the Korean top-flight. Because of this, Suwon have only 14 points while Incheon have yet to reach double digits with eight after 16 rounds.

This Saturday, they will lock horns in a must-win match over at the Incheon Football Stadium.

Incheon United finally broke their string of bad K-League 2020 results in the last time out as they scored their first victory against Daegu FC. Still, time is running out for the Mariners, so they should continue playing like they’ve got nothing to lose.

Meanwhile, Suwon entered August with a tough schedule facing top tier teams and they weren’t able to come out victorious in three straight occasions.

Can Incheon United add one more win to their record? Or will the Bluewings be able to widen the gap between them and the home team in the table?

SBOBET previews this upcoming weekend fixture.

Talking Points

Incheon United dealing with injuries and fitness woes

Newly-appointed manager Jo Sung-hwan will have a lot of work cut out for him in trying to keep the Mariners afloat.

But other than their problems on the pitch, the veteran tactician will have to dig deep into his shallow roster because they are being hounded by fitness concerns.

Lee Jae-eong, Kim Jun-beom, and Kim Ho-nam are reportedly dealing with unspecified injuries while Gustavo Custodio dos Santos was ruled out in the last time out since he struggled to finish the game.

The weight of the offencive cudgels will be carried upon by Stefan Mugosa, who was responsible for scoring the marginal goal in an upset win against Daegu FC.

Another player to look out for if you’re Suwon will be Elias Aguilar, who has been an effective centre-forward for the Mariners.

Although he has yet to find the back of the net again after scoring versus Gwangju, the Costa Rica international offers a decent work rate and quality to make the team competitive.

With Incheon missing some of their key players, they will need to step up their games even further to give themselves a chance.

Suwon need more from Taggart and their new coach

The Suwon Bluewings are hopeful that their fortunes will take a drastic turn especially after Lee Lim-saeng was recently replaced by caretaker boss Seung Jin-joo.

In the first game with him at the helm, the Bluewings were able to frustrate the league leaders in Ulsan Hyundai, holding them to a goalless draw.

But in the last time out, they were dealt with a harsh reality check when they were demolished by the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, 3-1.

Adam Taggart scored the lone goal versus the defending champions. But interestingly, he came off the bench at the time

The Australian forward would need to rediscover his high-scoring ways to salvage Suwon’s 2020 campaign. He only has five goals so far after leading the league with 18 last term.

Seung Jin-joo continues to tinker around his player rotations in order to find the best combination every match. But compared to Incheon United, the Suwon Bluewings have better depth.

History

The Mariners and the Bluewings have clashed in 36 fixtures prior to this upcoming weekend.

Suwon have the significant edge in the overall head-to-heads with 20 wins, whereas Incheon won in only five times along with 11 draws.

In their earlier meeting this season, Suwon came out with their first win of the season via a late goal by Ki-Hun Yeom. Before that, they had a 1-1 draw last October and Incheon’s last victory against Suwon dates back to two months prior.

Betting Tip

??
Incheon United vs Suwon Bluewings 1X2 Draw @ 3.25
August 22, 16:30 (GMT+8)

Our latest K-League 2020 odds slightly favour the Suwon Bluewings to win as they are priced at 2.16 in the 1×2 market. On the other hand, the odds for Incheon United to grab their second win of the season and a draw are both priced at 3.25.

These are two sides who struggle in their attack so far this campaign. Hence, I would also recommend placing your wagers on Under 2.50 @ 1.67.

While the Bluewings are given the edge to win, I am not so sure that they’ll do so given that they are lacking confidence with their poor form. At the same time, the Mariners have shown signs of being competitive despite having only won once so far.

So this is expected to become a slugfest come Saturday, and I see this game ending up in a goalless draw.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
