K-League: Daegu and Jeonbuk Both Playing Catch Up

countdown banner

Daegu FC vs Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors

As far as the 2020 K-League title race is concerned, there have been three clubs that quickly come into mind.

Ulsan Hyundai top the list since they lead the K-League table in points, while the defending champions in Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Daegu FC are placed second and third respectively.

So that brings to our game preview here at SBOBET. Because this weekend, we will feature a high-profile match between Daegu FC and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

While Daegu and Jeonbuk are in the thick of the title race here in the Korean top-flight, the points disparity between these two is something worth noting in terms of evaluating both of their K-League 2020 odds to win the championship.

The Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have 32 points while Daegu FC have 25 points, and the latter is level with the fourth-seeded club in Sangju Sangmu.

In the last time that these two faced off in late May, it was the defending champions who came out with a victory in a 2-0 scoreline.

Can Jeonbuk win over Daegu once more this time on the road? Or will the home team break even at the DGB Daegu Bank Park?

Talking Points

Daegu FC regaining momentum

After suffering a tough defeat against Sangju Sangmu in mid-July, the citizen club have found themselves in much better shape heading into this match.

Daegu FC avoided any further slip-ups despite facing a spate of injuries, and now they are in the midst of a nice little win streak.

The recharged citizen club has welcomed back Nishi Tsubasa, who has served his suspension back then. They also got back Kim Woo-seok and Hwang Soon-min, who look to be well-rested after suffering minor injuries.

After dealing with an Achilles concern, Edgar made his presence felt once more during their recent victory against the Suwon Bluewings. He scored the game’s only goal during the 88th minute and he will contribute more for the team moving forward.

Add those players along with the in-form attacking duo of Cesinha and Dejan Damjanovic, Daegu FC are expected to fare well in their next few fixtures.

However, they will have the daunting challenge of trying to beat the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who have been building some momentum of their own.

Jeonbuk stake their undefeated streak

One month after losing a tough one against Sangju Sangmu, the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have found themselves unblemished in six matches in all competitions.

That loss was followed by draws against Seongnam FC and Incheon United, while they defeated the Jeonnam Dragons and Busan I’Park in the FA Cup along with resounding wins over FC Seoul and Pohang Steelers in the K-League.

Jose Morais’ men have been on target during the said run as they’ve scored 13 goals while conceding seven from their opponents.

While they’re undefeated as of the moment, for sure the defending champions will not stop in searching for improvements. And that explains why they brought over some new reinforcements in Modou Barrow and Gustavo.

Gustavo has already made an impact starting from his first game. Against FC Seoul, the former SC Corinthians striker scored off of a header to cap off the win. And then it was followed up by a hat-trick during their FA Cup quarterfinal tiff versus Busan I’Park.

His goalscoring exploits will definitely be needed in their next few games. With him being a sparkplug off the bench, Jeonbuk’s attack is slowly becoming lethal once more.

History

Daegu FC and the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have faced off in 41 total encounters prior to this weekend tiff.

The defending champions have the significant edge in the head-to-head with 24 wins, while Daegu FC won eight times along with nine draws.

Their fixture last May featured a lot of fireworks.

Murilo and Cho Gue-sung poured in the goals en route to a Jeonbuk victory, although the latter was sent off during added time via a red card. Daegu FC’s Kim Sun-min was sent off too during the 86th minute.

Betting Tip

??
Daegu FC vs Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors Asian Handicap -0.25 @ 1.76
August 08, 19:00 (GMT+8)

Upon re-watching their previous encounter, I am leaning heavily towards another victory in favour of the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

In the 1×2 market, they are priced at 2.01 to win while Daegu FC are pegged at 3.45. Chances for a draw is priced higher than expected at 3.40.

Both of these teams have the capability to light up the scoreboard despite not doing so in their last few matches against each other. So if you’re swinging for the fences, why not place your bets on either Over 2.50 @ 1.76 or Total Goal 2-3 @ 1.88?

While Jeonbuk look to have the better roster on paper, one can’t simply overlook on how dangerous Daegu FC can be.

Furthermore, expect this match to not disappoint as it will be filled with a ton of K-League 2020 highlights.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
