Borussia Dortmund 4-4 Schalke 04

In what might go down as the greatest Revierderby ever played, Schalke battled back from four first-half goals to draw with Borussia Dortmund.

This game was indeed a derby for the ages as both teams thrilled online betting with an action-packed match that ended with eight goals, including a stoppage-time equaliser that stunned sports betting fans and silenced the crowd at Signal-Iduna-Park.

Dortmund, who came into the match at the back of three straight league defeats, couldn’t wish for a better start after scoring four goals within 25 minutes.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the floodgates with a scrappy finish on 12 minutes. A Benjamin Stambouli own goal—off a Nuri Sahin free-kick—then added to BVB’s tally before Mario Gotze headed home from an Auba assist and made it 3-0.

The writing seems to be on the wall when Raphael Guerreiro fired their fourth with a deflected volley, piling more misery in what has already been a frustrating opening sequence for the visitors.

Leon Goretzka’s introduction, however, changed the tides for Schalke who appeared to have finally found their bite. And although they failed to score in the first half, they continued to threaten the home side’s defence.

Schalke’s relentless attacks paid off at the hour when Guido Burgstaller and substitute Amine Harit scored a goal each in the space of five minutes to cut BVB’s lead to just two.

The tables then turned when Aubameyang was sent off, giving the Royal Blues a glimmer of hope with 18 minutes of normal time remaining.

Daniel Caligiuri brought the visitors within one in the 86th minute before Naldo hit a thumping header four minutes into added time to complete their comeback.

Schalke dropped to third with the result though, as RB Leipzig moved back to second following their 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen.

On the other hand, Borussia Monchengladbach are now level on points with Domenico Tedesco’s men after surprising the league-leading Bayern Munich 2-1. First-half goals from Thorgan Hazard and Matthias Ginter put Gladbach ahead, and the team never looked back to end Jupp Heyncke’s five-game winning run in the Bundesliga.

Elsewhere, Freiburg, Augsburg and Bayer Leverkusen got all three points in their respective fixtures, while new boys Hannover 96 and VfB Stuttgart shared the spoils in the opening game of Matchday 13.
