Serie A is back underway and it’s ‘as you were chaps’.

The top seven teams all won and that would have given nice betting odds for an accumulator, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!

And there was plenty of live betting drama as three of the chasing pack desperately snatched all the points with late, late winners.

Juventus 3-0 Bologna

It only took Gonzalo Higuain seven minutes to fire the Bianconeri ahead against 15th-placed Bologna, and Paulo Dybala doubled the lead from the penalty spot before the break. Higuain headed another ten minutes into the second half to keep the pack at bay.

Genoa 0-1 Roma

Roma kept up the heat at the top of the table after consigning Genoa to a fourth consecutive defeat. But the second-placed side needed an own goal by Armando Izzo to get them over the line. It doesn’t matter how they go in though!

Napoli 2-1 Sampdoria

A 95th-minute goal from new boy Lorenzo Tonelli gave Napoli a crucial three points in their continued chase. An own goal by Elseid Hysaj had given the visitors an unlikely half-time lead, but a red card for Matias Silvestre sparked their demise. Manolo Gabbiadini equalised with 13 minutes left to set up the dramatic finish. It’s four without a win now for Sampdoria.

Lazio 1-0 Crotone

Lazio made hard work of this match against 19th placed Crotone, but stay fourth thanks to a 90th-minute goal by their prolific front man Ciro Immobile. The late winner prompted wild celebrations from a relieved home crowd, and from Immobile who received a yellow card for his trouble!

Milan 1-0 Cagliari

And there was another late winner at the Guiseppe Meazza where Milan left it until the 88th minute to nudge ahead of 14th -placed Cagliari. The stadium erupted when Gianluca Lapadula but through Carlos Bacca to slot home, and Milan stay fifth. To make matters worse for the visitors, Bruno Alves saw red for a bad tackle deep into injury time.

Chievo 1-4 Atalanta

Atalanta made it back-to-back wins and inflicted Chievo’s first home defeat in six games after a blistering first half. The visitors went in 3-0 up at the break thanks to a brace from Alejandro Gomez and one from Andrea Conti. Sergio Pellissier pulled one back but Atalanta’s Remo Freuler ended any thoughts of a comeback.

Udinese 1-2 Inter

Inter have won five on the bounce now after negotiating this difficult test against a Udinese team with three wins in the previous four. Ivan Perisic was Inter’s hero, grabbing a couple including an 87th minute headed winner after he had earlier equalised Jakub Jankto’s opener for the hosts.

Sassuolo 0-0 Torino

Sassuolo ended their losing run at the Citta del Tricolore with this stalemate against Europe chasing Torino. It’s not a great point for the visitors though, or for 13 goal Andrea Belotti who has been the subject of a big-money offer from Arsenal.

Empoli 1-0 Palermo

What a moment the 78th minute in the first Serie A game of 2017 could turn out to be! Massimo Maccarone converted a penalty to take 17th-placed Empoli seven points clear of Palermo in 18th. That’s a big gap at the bottom.
