Football Bets on Barca are the Stuff of Dreams

A spectacular fight back in Sociedad handed Barcelona another vital win to see Ernesto Valverde’s unbeaten men stay top by nine points.

And on another great weekend of La Liga football for online betting fans, there were wins for Atletico and Valencia while Real Madrid suffered another nightmare loss that takes them well out of the running.

Real Sociedad 2-4 Barcelona

After backing Barca to win with a -1.50 handicap betting offer, we have to say it looked unlikely when Willian Jose and Juanmi gave the hosts a shock two-goal lead. Paulinho pulled one back to set up the second half drama which saw Luis Suarez strike twice before Lionel Messi supplied the finishing touch with a sublime free-kick.

Eibar 0-1 Atletico Madrid

Atletico had briefly reduced the gap at the top to six points with a hard-fought win against Eibar on Saturday. The hosts had won four of the last five and gave Atletico keeper Jan Oblak a busy time; but Kevin Gameiro was the main man up front for the visitors, converting a cross from Antoine Griezmann to win.

Deportivo La Coruna 1-2 Valencia

Francis Coquelin debuted for Valencia after his switch from Arsenal to the Mestalla; and his new team seems to have found its feet again with another win, thanks to Goncalo Guedes and Rodrigo. Keeper Ruben was at fault for the first and Florin Andone’s late goal was little consolation as Depor drop into the bottom three.

Real Madrid 0-1 Villarreal

Los Blancos’ underwhelming run continues as another defeat means they are now a whopping 19 points behind Barca. It looked like we were heading for a draw at the Bernabeu until Pablo Fornals finished brilliantly on 87 minutes, lifting the Yellow Submarine to fifth.

Alaves 1-0 Sevilla

Alaves benefitted from Depor’s loss to move out of the drop zone thanks to Manu Garcia’s second-half winner which consigns Sevilla to another defeat. That’s four wins in six now for Alaves, while one point from five games has dropped out-of-sorts Sevilla to sixth.

Getafe 1-0 Malaga

The weekend’s opener saw Juan Cala head home from an Angel Rodriguez free-kick to give Getafe a second win in three games which lifted them up to ninth place. A fourth consecutive defeat, meanwhile, leaves Malaga in mortal danger, joint bottom and seven points from safety.

Girona 6-0 Las Palmas

Only Las Palmas are in a worse state than Malaga, with their goal difference wrecked by a 6-0 mauling in Girona. In a display sister club Manchester City would be proud of, the hosts blew the Gran Canarians away as Kenya striker Michael Olunga helped himself to a 22-minute hat-trick.

Levante 0-1 Celta Vigo

Celta moved away from danger after Pione Sisto took a pass from Iago Aspas to slide home a 37th-minute winner at Levante. That’s three unbeaten for Celta now while Levante look in trouble, just two points above the drop and with only 15 goals to show for 19 games.

RCD Espanyol 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Honours even in Barcelona where an Inaki Williams equaliser extended the visitors’ unbeaten run to seven matches. Gerard Moreno had put the hosts ahead on 29 minutes, but Athletic had to wait just five minutes for Williams to nod home the leveller.

Real Betis 3-2 Leganes

An 83rd-minute penalty decided the Monday five-goal thriller after Leganes had recovered from a two-goal deficit. Cristian Tello and Joaquin put Betis in charge before Gerard Gumbau and Javier Eraso levelled for the visitors. But when Nordin Amrabat handled in the box Ruben Castro coolly converted the spot-kick.
