European Giants are so Good for Football Bets

countdown banner

Bayern Munich, PSG and Barcelona have all enjoyed big wins on another spectacular night of Champions League football.

PSG are joint favourites to lift the trophy, and Bayern are still fancied on betting websites, even after their early loss to the French. In a group dominated by these two star studded sides, Asian Handicap betting is always the way to play.

Barcelona, too, will be in the shake-up and they won very comfortably with ten men.

Bayern Munich 3-0 Celtic

In a consummate display of professionalism Bayern dismantled Celtic, the only surprise being it took 17 minutes for Thomas Muller to open the scoring. Joshua Kimmich added a beauty on the half hour and Mats Hummels had buckets of space to plant a header home soon after the break.

Anderlecht 0-4 Paris Saint-Germain

But PSG stays top of Group B as their three striking superstars all hit the target again.

Kylian MBappe scored from a tight angle on three minutes and Edinson Cavani headed a second just before the break. Neymar fired home a free-kick to make it three and confirm the Parisians’ 100 per cent record. Angel di Maria got in on the act late on.

Barcelona 3-1 Olympiakos

Barca only needed ten men to get their win, going ahead when Gerard Deulofeu crossed for Olympiakos defender Dimitris Nikolaou to put through his own net.

Paulinho headed against the bar soon afterwards but, with Barca in complete control, Gerard Pique was sent off for deliberate handball. But no matter, Lionel Messi curled in a free-kick and then full-back Lucas Digne smashed home a third. Nikolaou headed into the right net to earn a late consolation.

Juventus 2-1 Sporting Lisbon

Juventus too has designs on the title and came from behind to beat Sporting.

Alex Sandro scored an own goal to give the visitors a surprise early lead but 80 minutes is a long time to hang on. Miralem Pjanic leveled matters, before the break, with a beautiful free kick, and then Mario Mandzukic grabbed all three points with a neat header on 84 minutes.

Chelsea 3-3 AS Roma

What a game at Stamford Bridge! David Luiz opened the scoring with a 25 yard screamer and then Eden Hazard reacted brilliantly to make it two on 37 minutes.

But just two minutes later Aleksandar Kolarov deservedly pulled one back for Roma. Former Manchester City man Edin Dzeko hit a stunning volley to level and then minutes later headed another. Then up stepped Eden Hazard to nod the equaliser on 75 minutes. Phew!

Qarabag FK 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Even when Dino Ndlovu received his marching orders, for a dive on 75 minutes, Atletico couldn’t break through at Qarabag. Fernando Torres and Antoine Griezmann both tried their luck but to no avail. Qarabag’s first point in the Champions League is a shocking result for Atletico and leaves the Spaniards on two points.

Benfica 0-1 Manchester United

The Red Devils looked comfortable in the Estadio da Luz, but threatened very little in a dull first half. And they needed the Benfica keeper to comically wander into his net with the ball to break the deadlock. But the Reds were better throughout and maintain their 100 per cent record.

CSKA Moscow 0-2 Basel

Basel followed up a big win against Benfica with a fine victory in Russia. Taulant Xhaka struck from distance on 29 minutes and Dimitri Oberlin made the points safe on 90. Basel, on six points, is in good shape to qualify.
