It’s a dream come true for the new boys!

Love ’em or hate ’em, you have to appreciate the historical run that Leipzig are having in the Bundesliga.

From runners-up in Germany’s second tier to Champions League qualification in just a year. Really, who saw that coming?

A win against Freiburg coupled with a Hertha defeat all but secured the Bulls of a top-four finish, and although betting odds on most betting websites don’t back them to win the title this year, there’s no denying that what they did is a surprise, even to most football betting pundits.

RB Leipzig 4-0 Freiburg

It’s an all-around performance from Ralph Hassenhuttl’s Leipzig who continue to rewrite Bundesliga history. Freiburg never really had the opportunity to score as the Bulls came out blazing right from the kickoff, with Yussuf Poulsen and Timo Werner giving them a two-goal lead before the break.

Naby Keita added a third minutes after the restart before Diego Demme impressed with a header for his first professional career goal. What a day, right?

Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

Marco Reus, in his first start since March, needed just a little over two minutes to put BVB ahead; and he did it with a beautiful back-heel from a Christian Pulisic assist. Although the Eagles’ Marco Fabian cancelled it out half an hour later, it wasn’t wasted as Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added a goal each to get all the points at Signal Iduna Park.

If Dortmund can maintain this form, they should be able to breeze through an Asian Handicap -0.50 @ 2.09 when they face Gladbach.

Mainz 05 1-0 Hertha BSC

More frustration for the Capital club as they remain winless on the road in seven away games this 2017. Mainz, on the other hand, snapped their five-game losing streak and eased their relegation worries, thanks to a lucky break when Danny Latza fired the ball towards a crowd of players only for the shot to bounce off the head of Hertha defender John Anthony Brooks and fly into the corner of the net.

The O-Fives visit Bayern next weekend, but with the league leaders struggling recently, they could be solid bets on Asian Handicap +2.25 @ 2.03.

Wolfsburg 3-0 Ingolstadt

Wolfsburg moved to 13th and a point above the danger zone at the expense of the 17th-placed Ingolstadt. The match offered little to get excited about, but the Wolves fortunately took the lead after a Markus Suttner own goal put them up on the stroke of half-time. They never looked back from there as Yunus Malli and Mario Gomez piled more misery on Ingolstadt come the second half.

Augsburg 2-1 FC Koln

After a winless run over the past month, Augsburg finally got their first full points. They couldn’t ask for a much better start as well after scoring twice within 23 minutes, the first one a fifth-minute Martin Hinteregger header from a Jonathan Schmid corner. Cologne got some consolation though from Philipp Max’s own goal on 65 minutes.

Hoffenheim 5-3 Borussia Monchengladbach

Gladbach did well to keep the game close throughout, but they just didn’t have an answer for Kerem Demirbay whose second-half double denied them any chance of a comeback. Hoffenheim had two 2-point cushions in the game; and although the visitors stayed within striking distance, they weren’t able to stop the 23-year-old midfielder who was a constant threat with his pace and dribbling.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Bayern Munich

Despite being down to 10 men early in the second half, Bayer held firm to frustrate the Bavarians who failed to score for the second straight away outing. The defending champions had scoring opportunities, but the hosts defending and goalkeeping proved to be too much even after Tin Jedvaj’s sending off.

Werder Bremen 2-1 Hamburger SV

Once in the danger zone, Bremen are now up eighth and fighting for the European places. They also extended their unbeaten run to nine matches with a come-from-behind victory in the Nordderby, courtesy of goals from Max Kruse and Florian Kainz in both intervals. It’s a frustrating loss for Hamburg though all after Michael Gregoritsch put them ahead on six minutes.

Darmstadt 2-1 Schalke 04

It was nothing but joy for relegation-threatened Darmstadt as they beat a Schalke outfit that they haven’t defeated in eight competitive matches before the game. Of course, they are still far from safety, but the excellent saves made by goalie Michael Esser and the injury-time winner of Jerome Gondorf will surely be remembered.
