Borussia Dortmund vs Mainz
Borussia Dortmund’s faint hopes of winning the Bundesliga title could officially come to an end by the time they take the field against Mainz.
Bayern can clinch their eighth consecutive championship if they beat relegation strugglers Werder Bremen, which the Bundesliga 2020 betting odds have them favoured to do.
But the BVB can still go a long way toward cementing second spot if they beat the 05ers at Signal Iduna Park.
Mainz have not had much success since returning to action and remain in danger of relegation. But they have been a handful away from home this season and will look to give Dortmund some headaches.

Borussia Dortmund keen to end season on a high
Borussia Dortmund have been brilliant since the restart of the season. They’ve won five of their six matches, with 14 goals scored and just two conceded, by far the fewest in the league during that time.
However, one of those goals they conceded was Joshua Kimmich’s magnificent chip, which gave Bayern Munich a 1-0 win in Der Klassiker. As a result, BVB now trail Bayern by seven points with just three games remaining and need nothing short of a miracle to win the league.
Dortmund have bounced back well since that loss to Bayern, though. They thrashed Paderborn 1-6 away, then edged out a resurgent Hertha Berlin side 1-0 at home.
But BVB had arguably their least impressive performance last time out against relegation-threatened Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Luckily, Erling Braut Haaland returned from a two-game absence due to a knee injury and added to his list of Bundesliga 2020 highlights with a dramatic stoppage-time winner. Haaland has now taken his tremendous Bundesliga tally to 11 goals in 12 matches.
Haaland looks set to return to the starting line-up alongside Jadon Sancho, who has continued his brilliant form. The teenager has had a hand in the most goals this season, scoring 17 goals and setting up 16 more.
Captain Marco Reus, who has yet to play since the league returned due to injury, is back in training, but he will likely start out on the bench.
Mainz still fighting for their Bundesliga lives
Mainz still aren’t completely safe from relegation. They are just three points clear of Fortuna Dusseldorf, who are currently in 16th — the relegation play-off place — and Werder Bremen in 17th.
Mainz’s form has been mixed since returning to action, with a single win, two draws and three defeats in six matches. Their home form, which has been horrendous all season long, has continued as they’ve lost all three of their matches at Opel Arena.
Their 1-0 loss last time out to 14th-placed Augsburg was particularly disappointing. They also suffered a 5-0 defeat to RB Leipzig, with Timo Werner bagging his second hat-trick against them this season.
Mainz have been much better away from home, though. They’re unbeaten in four of their last five matches, which includes a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. They’ve also scored nine more goals away from home despite playing one fewer game.
However, leading scorer Robin Quaison, who has 12 goals this season, has gone on an extended scoring drought since returning to action.
Defensive midfielder Pierre Kunde has helped carry the scoring load by contributing two goals in his last three away games. But Mainz will need much more from the entire team in order to avoid a heavy defeat at Dortmund.
History
Recent history between Borussia Dortmund and Mainz has been dominated by Dortmund. They’ve won 15 of their last 24 meetings, with Mainz winning just four.
BVB have also won eight of their last 10 games, with just one draw and one defeat. However, Mainz’s most recent win at Dortmund came in 2018.
But Dortmund have come back to win the last three in a row. Jadon Sancho scored twice in a 2-1 win at Signal Iduna Park last year. He then scored twice and set up another in Dortmund’s 4-0 win at Mainz back in December.
