The Best Race in Serie A for Years!

countdown banner

It couldn’t be better! Kalidou Koulibaly’s late winner for Napoli against Juventus last week has blown the title race wide open.

Few football betting pundits gave Napoli little hope of chasing the Bianconeri down, but Koulibaly’s dramatic header has changed all that. Juve and Napoli are both at 1.90 to lift the Scudetto, and get this; Juve visit Inter Milan on Saturday in the Derby D’Italia where Inter will try to grab a Champions League spot!

What a climax we have throughout Serie A, currently the best league in Europe for sports betting fans, with big, big football games from top to bottom. The races are on for Champions League places, Europa League places and survival spots. This weekend will bring triumph or disaster the length and breadth of Italy.

WEEK 35 SUNDAY:

Inter Milan vs Juventus

This could be the weekend Max Allegri’s side slips back into second if they fail to win at the Giuseppe Meazza. Inter haven’t lost to the Old Lady in their last meeting, and in Mauro Icardi they have a striker on 26 goals and ready to pounce. Juve’s top scorer is Paulo Dybala on 21, and his task is to beat a team which has not lost four of the last five. Juventus are 2.27 to get a much-needed win, with Inter at 3.25 and 3.10 the draw.

AS Roma vs Chievo

Roma need to concentrate on league matters after a 5-2 thumping in Liverpool, even though two late goals have kept alive their Champions League hopes. They are in a three-way race for two top-four spots and will surely beat a Chievo side hovering two points above the drop.

Atalanta vs Genoa

Eight points from four games lifted Atalanta to sixth, and Gian Piero Gasperini’s side can further cement a Europa spot with a win over 11th-placed Genoa that can’t possibly reach the top six or the bottom three. The hosts have won the last four meetings with Genoa, scoring 12 and conceding only two.

Bologna vs AC Milan

No wins in six has left Milan in seventh and, after a mid-season surge, in danger of missing out on Europe altogether. This is a sticky trip to Bologna as the hosts are within a win of safety and have lost only once in their last five games at the Renato Dall’Ara.

Sampdoria vs Cagliari

Sampdoria hit a rocky patch with two defeats and one win in the last three, but they can still make a European place with a fast finish. And this is a good opportunity: Cagliari are inching to safety but lost the last three away while Samp’s in-form Duvan Zapata will be itching to add to his 11 goals.

Crotone vs Sassuolo

And so to the basement battles. In Crotone, the hosts are fighting for their lives in 17th, two points above the drop after winning only two in the last four. Sassuolo hit form at the right time, unbeaten in nine and within reach of safety. Crotone are at 2.19 to end that run with a priceless win.

Verona vs SPAL

Nineteenth plays 18th, and Verona will be doomed if they lose this do-or-die battle. Five defeats in six have left them six points from safety, while five draws in six have given SPAL real hope. With Chievo in Roma, a win for the visitors could lift them out of the drop zone. SPAL are at 2.26 to pull it off.

Benevento vs Udinese

Benevento have been down for some time, but the players have given their best and won five games. They could still have a big influence on who joins them. Udinese are in freefall, just four points above the drop after 11 consecutive defeats and they’ve only just sacked their coach, Massimo Oddo!

WEEK 35 MONDAY:

Fiorentina vs Napoli

Anything other than a Juve win in Milan will open the door for Napoli as Dries Mertens and pals take the trip to beautiful Florence. The Viola need a result to keep their Europa hopes alive, but back-to-back defeats don’t augur well. Napoli are at 1.89 to win with a -1.00 goal handicap, and Sarri’s team won’t leave anything on the pitch.

Torino vs Lazio

Lazio are another side hanging on to a top-four place, with Inter in wait, but they must fancy their chances in Turin against a Torino side without a win in three and little to play for. Lazio’s Ciro Immobile still tops the scoring charts, needing one to reach 30 for the season.
