There are a couple of one-sided battles in today’s NBA, but that didn’t make online gambling less exciting as some teams also played out close matches.
Cleveland extended their winning run to seven games in a thrilling live betting affair that saw them escape by a narrow margin. Meanwhile, Portland, Indiana and Detroit kept sports betting fans at the edge of their seats as they all bagged victories… but with only a three-point lead or less!
Portland Trail Blazers 127-125 Brooklyn Nets
Despite their inconsistent performance that saw them give up 72 points in the second half, the Blazers still managed to pull out a narrow win against the undermanned Nets. Jusuf Nurkic was crucial for the Blazers as he scored 29 points, including the and-1 lay-up off a steal that gave them a three-point lead with 27 seconds remaining.
New York Knicks 104-116 Atlanta Hawks
Kristaps Porzingis might be thrilled by the way the Knicks are playing, but their fans certainly aren’t, especially after falling prey to the lowly Hawks. Dennis Schroder tallied 26 points and eight assists as Atlanta used a 30-19 third-quarter rally to take down New York and put an end to their three-game skid.
Orlando Magic 103-118 Boston Celtics
It didn’t take long for Boston to return to winning ways, thanks to Kyrie Irving’s 30 points and Terry Rozier’s career-high 23. The Celtics built a 30-point lead through three quarters, and it was never really threatened despite the fact that four of Boston’s starters sat out the final 12 minutes of play.
Charlotte Hornets 99-100 Cleveland Cavaliers
LeBron James bagged a triple-double (27 points, 16 rebounds and 13 assists) and sent out a warning that Cleveland are back to reclaim their throne in the East.
Oft-maligned for their defence, the Cavaliers won the match by making stops when it mattered most. The King was even credited with a block to Kemba Walker, who sent a desperation heave as time expires.
Toronto Raptors 104-107 Indiana Pacers
In a feisty affair that ended with only a three-point lead, it helped the Pacers that they were able to limit DeMar DeRozan to just 13 points on 37.5 percent shooting. Lance Stephenson also gave Indiana a boost as he made 13 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter —including back-to-back threes with under five minutes left—to help them eke out a win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Miami Heat 109-97 Minnesota Timberwolves
With Jeff Teague out, the Wolves just didn’t have enough firepower to sweep the two-game season series against the Heat. Miami found their rhythm from beyond the arc and made 19 treys in the match, with Wayne Ellington exploding off the bench for 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three.
Detroit Pistons 99-98 Oklahoma City Thunder
Detroit could have won the game by a larger margin had they not committed 20 turnovers, but they would still be happy getting the W against Oklahoma. The Pistons, trailing by 10 in the first half, displayed a total team effort in the second to cancel out another triple-double performance from Russell Westbrook.
Memphis Grizzlies 92-104 Denver Nuggets
Denver handed Memphis their seventh consecutive defeat behind a fantastic all-around effort from Nikola Jokic. The Serbian centre seized 28 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Nuggets, who also dominated the rebounding department with 50 to the Grizzlies’ 23.
New Orleans Pelicans 115-91 Phoenix Suns
Riding on their win over the Spurs, the Pelicans produced another blowout victory, this time against the cold-shooting Suns. Anthony Davis finished with 23 points and nine rebounds while DeMarcus Cousins chipped in 19 and 10 to spark New Orleans past a Phoenix side that only made two of their 20 attempts from deep.
Chicago Bulls 94-143 Golden State Warriors
Despite the absence of Kevin Durant and Draymond Green, the Warriors were still too much for the East-worst Bulls. Splash Bros. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 62 points to punish Chicago who only had Jerian Grant reaching the 20-point mark.
