NBA: Clippers are Making Inroads Into the Top 8

After hovering around the play-in spots, the Clippers are back in the NBA playoff mix. With a 35-29 record, LA have taken the eighth spot in the Western Conference and are keen to get a higher seed. The Ty Lue-coached squad is on a three-game winning streak, and they’re up against the lowly Pelicans at Intuit Dome tomorrow. Given the gap between these two sides, the NBA 2025 odds favour the Clippers to breeze past the Pelicans, 14th in the Western Conference with a 17-48 record.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers, Pistons, and Pacers will host the Nets, Wizards, and Bucks. We only have four games on the menu tomorrow, but SBOTOP basketball fans should continue to get their usual dose of NBA 2025 highlights.

Brooklyn Nets @ Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain the hottest team in the league, as they’re on a 14-game winning streak. As a result, they became the first team to clinch a playoff berth this year.

After escaping a Hornets upset last Friday, the Cavaliers scored a double-digit win over the Bucks two days later through a balanced effort. Max Strus led with 17 points, nine rebounds, and five three-pointers on 6-for-11 shooting from the field. Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen added 15, 13, 13, and 11 points.

The Nets ended their seven-game losing streak with a timely win over the LeBron James-Lakers last night. Noah Clowney stood out in this game, notching 19 points and five rebounds on 5-for-11 shooting from the field. Keon Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Tyrese Martin, and Nic Claxton added 18, 18, 14, and 12 points.

With a 22-42 record, Brooklyn are 11th in the Eastern Conference. They have a realistic shot of qualifying for the play-in tournament, but they’re better off tanking for a high draft pick this summer.

Washington Wizards @ Detroit Pistons

The Pistons are back to winning after a brief two-game slide, and they’re keen to build a new winning streak at the expense of the Wizards.

Detroit scored a 119-112 victory over the Blazers last Sunday, as Cade Cunningham led with 28 points, four rebounds, and five assists on 9-for-17 shooting from the field and 8-for-9 shooting from the free throw line. Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren, Tim Hardaway Jr., Dennis Schroder, and Malik Beasley added 20, 18, 13, 12, and 10 points.

In contrast, the Wizards are back to losing ways after a two-game winning streak following a 119-104 loss against the Raptors last Monday. Alex Sarr and Jordan Poole had 16 points each to lead Washington in scoring. Tristan Vukcevic, Corey Kispert, and Kyshawn George added 15, 13, and 13 points in the losing effort.

Milwaukee Bucks @ Indiana Pacers

The Bucks and Pacers are eager to return to winning ways, but only one can achieve such an objective tomorrow.

Milwaukee lost back-to-back matches against Orlando and Cleveland. Against the Cavaliers last Monday, Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals on 13-for-24 shooting from the field. Damian Lillard notched 22 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals on 8-for-17 shooting from the field. Kyle Kuzma recorded 14 points.

Indiana dropped their last three matches since they didn’t have Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton is dealing with an ankle injury and hopes to return to the court soon. Andrew Nembhard will remain as the team’s starting point guard if Haliburton remains out.

During their most recent defeat against Chicago, Myles Turner had 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists on 5-for-12 shooting from the field. Pascal Siakam, Ben Sheppard, and Obi Toppin added 13, 12, and 10 points in the losing effort.

Betting tip – Milwaukee Bucks Asian Handicap -2.50 @ 1.90

LA Clippers @ New Orleans Pelicans

The Clippers are coming off a thrilling 111-110 overtime win against the Kings last Sunday, as Kawhi Leonard hit the game-winning floater.

James Harden flirted with a triple-double with 29 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists on 10-for-19 shooting from the field. Ivica Zubac finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds on 9-for-14 shooting from the field. Kawhi Leonard and Derrick Jones Jr. had 17 points each in the win.

The Pelicans have lost five of their last six. Trey Murphy III dropped 27 points, five rebounds, and two blocks on 9-for-21 shooting from the field, and six of his teammates also scored double-digit points, but they couldn’t eke out the win.

Betting tip – Los Angeles Clippers Asian Handicap -6.50 @ 1.90
