NBA Recap: Doncic-less Mavs Snap Bucks’ Epic Win Streak

It was quite a dramatic night of NBA action with a number of games going down to the wire. But by far the biggest NBA 2019 news of the night was the fact that the Milwaukee Bucks had their remarkable 18-game winning streak ended by the Dallas Mavericks, who were without star man Luka Doncic.

Elsewhere, both the Oklahoma City Thunder no doubt shocked SBOBET NBA fans everywhere as Houston Rockets came back from enormous deficits to break the hearts of the Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs.

Washington Wizards 133-119 Detroit Pistons

The Wizards snapped their four-game losing skid with a comfortable 133-119 win over the Pistons. Bradley Beal had another huge game with 35 points and 10 assists to lead the Wizards, while backcourt partner Isaiah Thomas added 23 points.

The NBA 2019 odds were always going to be against the Pistons, who were without their starting frontcourt duo of Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin. Derrick Rose and Markieff Morris each had 22 points, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Pistons slumped to 11-16 on the season.

Cleveland Cavaliers 113-133 Toronto Raptors

The Raptors continued to dominate on their home court with a convincing 20-point blowout of the struggling Cavaliers. Pascal Siakam had a stellar performance with 33 points, his second game of at least 30 points in a row. Meanwhile, the backcourt tandem of Kyle Lowry and Norman Powell combined for 46 points.

The Cavs backcourt of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland combined for 45 points, but their defence simply couldn’t stop the Raptors, who shredded them for 58 per cent shooting. With that loss, the Cavs have now dropped nine of their last 10 games. At 6-21, they are tied for the worst record in the East.

Dallas Mavericks 120-116 Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks’ incredible winning streak has been snapped at 18. Milwaukee suffered a surprising loss at home to the Dallas Mavericks, who were without star Luka Doncic due to a sprained ankle. Kristaps Porzingis stepped up in Doncic’s absence with 26 points and 12 rebounds, and Seth Curry dropped 26 points in 26 minutes off the bench.

Giannis Antetokounmpo did all he could to save the Bucks’ win streak as he dropped 48 points and 14 rebounds. But he didn’t get nearly enough help from his team-mates; no other Bucks started finished in double figures.

The Bucks will need to regroup quickly to avoid a losing skid as their next assignment sees them face the Los Angeles Lakers.

Chicago Bulls 106-109 Oklahoma City Thunder

The Bulls suffered a horrific collapse in Oklahoma City as they surrendered a 26-point lead to lose to the Thunder. It was a rough loss for the Bulls, who were coming off a big win over the shorthanded Clippers.

Zach LaVine led the way with 39 points, but even his 10 fourth-quarter points weren’t enough to save the Bulls, who only had 16 in the final period.

Chris Paul spearheaded the Thunder comeback with a fine performance of 30 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, and Dennis Schroder added 18 off the bench.

San Antonio Spurs 107-109 Houston Rockets

The Spurs suffered a similarly disastrous collapse as they failed to hold on and beat the Houston Rockets. With James Harden struggling, the Spurs jumped out to build a huge lead that was as high as 25 points in the first half.

But Harden finally woke up in the second half and helped fuel a furious second-half surge as the Rockets outscored the Spurs, 56-35. Harden finished with 28 points, while Russell Westbrook led the team with 31 points and 10 rebounds.

Miami Heat 111-118 Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies continued their mini-resurgence with a big home win against the Miami Heat. The Grizz, who have now won four of their last five games, got a big game from big man Jonas Valanciunas (21 points, 10 rebounds) as well as rookie Ja Morant (20 points, 10 assists).

As for the Heat, they’ve now dropped two of their last three after winning six of their last seven games. Jimmy Butler had 25 points and eight assists, while rookie Tyler Herro had 22 points off the bench.

Portland Trail Blazers 111-110 Phoenix Suns

The Portland Trail Blazers pulled off a dramatic one-point win over the Phoenix Suns, and they had Damian Lillard to thank. The All-Star point guard converted a three-point play with less than half a minute remaining as Ricky Rubio’s last-gasp 3-pointer wouldn’t go.

Lillard finished with 27 points, backcourt mate CJ McCollum had 30, and Carmelo Anthony had another vintage performance with 23 for the Blazers, who have won just twice in their last five games.

Meanwhile, Kelly Oubre Jr. had a team-high 24 points for the Suns, who were without star guard Devin Booker due to a right forearm bruise.
