However, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green had outstanding outings to help the Warriors lead from the third quarter and run away with a rather slim lead. It will be interesting to see how these two teams fight with a full roster.
Washington Wizards 111-103 Boston Celtics
The TD Garden was treated to a spectacular showdown between two of the league’s best point guards. Kyrie Irving finished with 20 points on 44% shooting and got some help from Jayson Tatum. However, Washington proved too much for the C’s as the visiting starters had their hands all over the ball. They imposed their will offensively and defensively to secure the W.
Houston Rockets 107-112 Oklahoma City Thunder
Christmas was wonderful for the Thunder as they outgunned a strong Rockets team for the home victory.
There were stretched when James Harden and Eric Gordon proved too much for the Thunder’s second unit, but OKC’s three stars pulled together for the win. Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony combined for 75 of OKC’s 112 points to help keep Houston away. Steven Adams pitched in with his 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Minnesota Timberwolves 121-104 Los Angeles Lakers
The future looks bright in Hollywood, but the Purple and Gold stood no chance against the Timberwolves without Brandon Ingram. Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns went to town on a Lakers side that could only count on Kyle Kuzma for production.
At least the fans got to see local favourite Alex Caruso in action.
