NBA: Best Duos In the NBA Right Now

In what was one of the wildest offseasons ever, the NBA has veered away from the usual super teams that we’ve witnessed for the better part of the decade.

Whether it’s chasing huge cheques or giving themselves a chance to win, players have wielded their increased power to take full control of their destiny – choosing where to go as soon as they become free agents.

Strange enough for these players, the mix between enhancing your legacy while building a strong team was evident in the form of one-two punch tandems that will take the league by storm next season.

With everything falling into place this summer, pundits are having a hard time to predict on who will be the favourites to win next season’s NBA title.

Today, SBOBET takes a look at some top duos that fans will be anticipating to see.

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson

Even if they lost against the Raptors in last season’s Finals, the Warriors are still in the thick of things with most of their core locked up.

They will have to move on, however, with Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins finding new homes in Brooklyn and Los Angeles respectively. The Warriors offense will have to lean heavily on the deadly outside shooting of the Splash Brothers once again.

Klay Thompson, who injured his knee in the playoffs, signed a five-year, $190 million contract while defensive specialist Draymond Green is guaranteed to suit up for Golden State at least for one more season.

It can also be noted that Steph Curry was signed to a lucrative contract as well. The two-time MVP signed a whopping $201 million deal over five years last 2017 due to his consistent play at a high level during their title runs.

Legendary coach Rudy Tomjanovich once mentioned that we should never underestimate the heart of a champion. And while the Warriors may be in a quandary, expect the Warriors to still bring their A-game – especially when Klay Thompson fully recovers.

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant

The mercurial combo of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant sent shockwaves across the league when they both took their talents to the Brooklyn Nets.

After recovering from the infamous Boston trade few years back, the Nets have rebuilt their roster in a bevy of shrewd deals while developing some young talent.

Give credit to both Sean Marks and Kenny Atkinson – who have been making strides from the day they were hired by the franchise. But they would have to wait for Kevin Durant to fully recover though, since he suffered a ruptured Achilles in last season’s Finals.

Add along guys like Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen, DeAndre Jordan, Joe Harris, and Caris Levert, it won’t be surprising if Brooklyn will be poised to make a run for the Eastern Conference crown in the near future.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis

Months after a lot of wheeling and dealing with the New Orleans Pelicans, the Lakers finally got a superstar teammate to tandem with LeBron James in Anthony Davis.

Despite missing the playoffs and losing some key players from last season, the NBA 2019 odds for the Lakers to win next season’s title have dramatically increased with their recent acquisitions such as DeMarcus Cousins, Danny Green, Quinn Cook, among others.

James, who is still in his prime, has shown the capability to play and get along with top-tier talents as evidenced by his previous runs with players like Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love.

The three-time champion is an adept playmaker with a strong physical frame – making him one of the most versatile players ever in league history.

Anthony Davis, on the other hand, is one of the league’s premier big men. He is a double-double machine who can make plays on both ends with his supreme athleticism and polished offensive arsenal.

With these two in the mix, Laker fans will get used to seeing some of best NBA 2019 highlights from them starting in October.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George

While Laker fans may feel like they can win it all, they might temper their expectations for now given the arrival of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.

After winning last season’s Finals MVP award, Kawhi Leonard is set to go back home in Southern California to try and bring one this time for the Los Angeles Clippers.

He will team up with Paul George, in which they’ll form one of the league’s top defensive teams since they’re both great two-way players. Both are superb creators off the bounce and they can rack up steals on the other end.

The two, along with the core of Pat Beverley, Landry Shamet, Montrezl Harrell, and Lou Williams will be exciting to watch as an inter-city rivalry is about to emerge soon.
