This is probably the most shocking result out of all the games played today.
James Harden did just fine, but Mike D’Antoni’s insistence on using just eight players did not do anything against a young and physically stacked Sixers. Ben Simmons had a near triple-double while Joel Embiid was one rebound shy of a double-double.
Charlotte Hornets 104-99 Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis, a ball club known for their grit-and-grind play, were stopped by Charlotte’s impressive D.
Marc Gasol and Mike Conley were limited to a combined 26 points while the rest of the roster struggled to score in their place. Meanwhile, Kemba Walker got some help from Jeremy Lamb, Malik Monk and Cody Zeller.
Dallas Mavericks 89-104 Utah Jazz
Rodney Hood had an explosive 25-point game to help the Utah Jazz cruise past the Dallas Mavericks. Rudy Gobert backed him up with a 17-12-6 line. Dirk Nowitzki’s 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting was the only bright spot in a terrible performance by the Mavs.
Toronto Raptors 99-85 Portland Trail Blazers
The Raptors managed to disregard their recent struggles against the West’s giant and beat the Trail Blazers in their own house. They managed to limit the rest of the team from producing points, forcing Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum to a difficult game of tag. Kyle Lowry also managed to get his groove back in this game, ending the night with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Golden State Warriors 141-113 LA Clippers
This game was a harsh reminder to the rest of the league that the Warriors still have four of the best ballers today suiting up for them. Blake Griffin and Danilo Gallinari were rendered helpless in offence as Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green went on a scoring tear.
