There’s no doubt the Suns are a different team now under Jay Triano. Sure, they did lose to Portland the last time out, but they made life hard for them and almost got the win against the same team that blew them out by 48 points in the opener.
Phoenix have been more locked-in defensively too, and I think they are in much better form than the Nets who have been ice-cold offensively since their win over Cleveland. If you’re punting, the Suns +3.50 @ 2.07 seem the best choice.
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Milwaukee Bucks (November 1, 08:00 GMT+8)
Oklahoma City, with the core of Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, have the better team on paper. Nonetheless, it still won’t be an easy task for them to stop the Giannis Antetokounmpo takeover of the NBA.
The Greek Freak is averaging 34.7 points per game this season; and although the Thunder have enough offensive weapons to counter him, their weak interior defence is a concerning factor.
I think this will be close, but Milwaukee should be able to pull out a win here given their team’s depth and balance. Go for the Bucks +2.00 @ 1.88.
Detroit Pistons @ Los Angeles Lakers (November 1, 10:30 GMT+8)
No one could have possibly predicted that the Pistons would lead in the East at all.
However, here they are now at 5-2 and coming off three straight wins against the Wolves, Clippers and Warriors.
Reggie Jackson, Andre Drummond, Tobias Harris and Avery Bradley are enjoying life in Detroit, and it’s unlikely they’ll be stopped by the young Lakers who are yet to find real consistency and string wins together. Detroit -4.50 @ 2.06 is an easy bet to make.
