Torino vs AC Milan
Serie A league leaders AC Milan will round off the weekend’s football on Monday night when they head to Turin to meet 13th placed Torino.
In a congested Scudetto race, just a single point separates the top four of Milan, Napoli, Inter Milan, and AS Roma. It’s the most exciting competition in Europe this year and a tough one to call, with the latest Serie A 2025 betting odds leaning gently towards Milan. The advantage that Max Allegri’s Rossoneri has is that their rivals are all in European competition.
Marco Baroni’s Torino are without a win in five and lost 1-0 away to Lecce last week, but the last time they were at home, Torino were battered 5-1 by Como. Last week, Milan beat Lazio 1-0 before the Romans exacted their revenge with a 1-0 victory in the Coppa Italia, and I expect I Rossoneri to get back to winning ways on Monday night.
Talking Points
Torino sweating on Simeone
Without a win in five, Il Toro has slipped down the table and is currently just four points above the relegation places. It’s an uncomfortable position to be in for a club that is aiming to improve on last term’s 11th-place finish. Before the last international break, Torino picked up three consecutive draws, the last a battling 0-0 against Juventus. But on their return to action, they suffered a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Como on home turf.

Argentina star Giovanni Simeone, on loan from Napoli, missed the defeat to Lecce with injury. But news from the club suggests the 30-year-old may be close to a return, and Baroni will monitor the situation over the weekend. Simeone is back in training, and he is hoping to be ready to play some part, though it may well be that his manager sits him on the bench.
Scotland striker Che Adams scored Torino’s goal against Lecce after missing the Como mauling through illness, and he will start, while veteran striker Duvan Zapata is also in contention, having returned from a year off with an ACL injury.
Milan’s focus is 100-per cent Scudetto
I Rossoneri have been racking up a good run of Serie A 2025 results in recent weeks, grinding out 1-0 wins over rivals Lazio, Inter Milan, and AS Roma. Though last time out, they crashed out of the Coppa Italia to Lazio, again a 1-0 result. Allegri fielded some fringe players in the Coppa, and while the likes of Ardon Jashari and Samuele Ricci have a bright future, they may find it hard to work their way into contention for league action, as that is all Milan have left to focus on.
So while the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan, Roma, and Juventus are compelled to rotate their squads, Milan will have a settled core to take them through to May, fitness allowing, of course.
The January transfer window is fast approaching, and I suspect Allegri will be in the market for a striker. While his defence is rock-solid, you can’t always rely on clean sheets for wins, and I Rossoneri are dependent on creative players for their goals.
Attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic has scored five in the league, as has Rafael Leao, who bagged the second-half winner against Lazio last week. And with the evergreen Luka Modric pulling the strings in midfield and the fleet-footed Christopher Nkunku out wide, this is a talented unit that only needs a spearhead. 24-year-old Santiago Gimenez signed in February, but he stands alone as an out-and-out striker with five goals in 23 appearances.
If Allegri can bring in a proven goal scorer, he has every chance of delivering the Scudetto. In the meantime, I Rossoneri should maintain their lead at the top this weekend, and maybe even strengthen their position. Napoli face Juventus on Sunday, and Inter Milan have a tough Saturday date against Como, while Roma are away to Cagliari.
History
Milan have had the better of the head-to-heads with 16 wins and 14 draws, while their have had six wins for Torino in all competitions over the past 36 meetings.
Torino won 2-1 when the two teams met in February; in fact, they have won the last three against Milan at the Stadio Olimpico and are unbeaten in four. But the last time they lost this fixture in Turin, it was a bloodbath as I Rossoneri plundered a 7-0 win in 2021, Ante Rebic scoring a hat-trick.
With one win, three draws, and two defeats, Il Toro have been in a deepening slump while AC Milan have won three, drawn one, and lost two.
Betting Tip
Torino is at SBOTOP odds of 4.50 to win, with the Draw at 3.50, but I think Milan will grind out another victory, and a single-goal win is the most likely outcome at a price of 6.50.
