Upsets were nowhere to be seen today

Games that go against the grain always make for fantastic games and nerve-wracking live betting moments. Upsets make for more interesting stories and spur our tendencies to cheer for the underdog.

I’m not saying that dominant basketball is bad for the game, however. Today’s winning teams proved why lofty betting odds were placed on them by many betting websites. As a fan of basketball, I want nothing more than to see top plays made by the league’s best.

Atlanta Hawks 101-109 Washington Wizards

The Hawks continue their struggles against the Wizards as John Wall and Bradley Beal combined for 63 points.

While Tim Hardaway Jr. made up for his atrocious performance in Game 1, Dwight Howard was a non-factor in this game. The big man only scored six points and corralled seven rebounds in 19 minutes of play. The bench didn’t do much to help Paul Millsap and Dennis Schroder.

While Washington mainly thrived on the back of Wall and Beal, there were also key players that added to the team’s successes. Marcin Gortat was a tank under the rim and Brandon Jennings did well in leading the bench.

Oklahoma City Thunder 111-115 Houston Rockets

James Harden is the MVP candidate that is having the better playoff series.

Russell Westbrook had another monster night for the Thunder, finishing the night with a stat line of 51 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. However, his heroics were negated by his team’s inability to defend and score the basketball. Doug McDermott, Victor Oladipo and Andre Roberson were the only other bright spots in a lacklustre OKC squad.

Harden, on the other hand, had more than enough support from Patrick Beverley, Eric, Gordon and Lou Williams to put the game away. The rest of the bench did well in shoring the defence just enough to tip the game in their favour by the fourth quarter.

Portland Trail Blazers 81-110 Golden State Warriors

The result of the game was never in doubt by the end of the first quarter.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum were effectively stopped by Steve Kerr’s adjustments after Game 1, resulting in a 29-point rout by the Dubs. The Warriors did well in distributing the scoring load and keep the Portland defence guessing on who will score the bucket next.

The scariest thing about this win is the fact that Kevin Durant didn’t even suit up for this game.
