Small ball might be the new norm in the NBA, but sports betting pundits and live betting enthusiasts got a reminder today that they shouldn’t forget this generation’s big men.
Indeed, Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns, Enes Kanter and Steven Adams proved to the whole online gambling community that the bigs are still a force to be reckoned in the league.
New Orleans Pelicans 110-96 New York Knicks
Another monster game from Anthony Davis finally paid off as the Pelicans thumped the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Davis scored 40 to go along with 18 boards to lead New Orleans while New York had only Brandon Jennings reaching the 20-point mark with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis failing to impact the game.
The Pelicans’ defence also made life harder for the home team, recording 11 steals and seven blocks to force 14 turnovers.
Oklahoma City Thunder 109-94 Chicago Bulls
An expectedly tight and high-scoring clash ended in a one-sided affair with Enes Kanter and Steven Adams dominating the painted area. Russell Westbrook also had a pretty solid night for the Thunder, falling just one rebound short for a triple-double.
Chicago’s Jimmy Butler, on the other hand, didn’t live up to expectations following his 42-point explosion against the Raptors as he missed all of his six attempts in 28 minutes of play.
Dallas Mavericks 92-101 Minnesota Timberwolves
The Wolves got out of the West’s bottom at the expense of the Mavericks, all thanks to an impressive display from Karl-Anthony Towns.
The second-year centre registered 34 points on 78.9 percent shooting to stop Dallas who got big games from Harrison Barnes and sure-fire Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki. Ricky Rubio had a terrific night for the Wolves as well, dishing out 15 assists to go along with his 13 points.
Rebounding has also been a difference-maker for Minnesota as they controlled the offensive and defensive boards, 42-25.
