K-League: Daegu FC Won’t Take Incheon United Lightly

Daegu FC vs Incheon United

Incheon United are hopeful to end their winless streak. But it will be a lot easier said than done when they head on over to the DGB Arena to visit Daegu FC this Sunday.

The K-League cellar dwellers are in bad shape as we are approaching the climax of the 2020 season. By failing to register a win after 15 matchdays, the Mariners have sank to the bottom of the top-flight table with only five points.

On the other hand, Daegu FC will look to go back to winning ways after being brushed aside by the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. With the defeat, the citizen club has been overtaken by the Pohang Steelers for the fourth spot as they are now level with 25 points apiece.

When these two met earlier, Incheon United held Daegu FC to a goalless draw in what was one of their rare highlights of the season. However, a lot has changed since then.

With pressure piling up especially for Incheon United, they will come in and play like they’ve got nothing to lose. But can they prove that their earlier performance against the citizen club was no fluke?

The K-League 2020 odds here at SBOBET doesn’t seem to back them to do so. However, as they say in football, the ball is round and anything can happen.

Talking points

Daegu FC facing lineup doubts

After their last victory versus the Suwon Bluewings, the citizen club is expected to miss several players ahead of this match.

Midfielder Kim Sun-min was handed a red card during that game and he will serve his one-game suspension while Cesinha is dealing with lingering injuries of his own.

Cesinha’s impending absence will surely hurt Daegu FC particularly in their attack. After all, he is the league’s third-leading scorer with eight goals and he was named as the player of the month last June.

He has been a creative source for Daegu FC, who are aiming to not get stuck in the middle as they are seeking bigger fish to fry.

Now with him out, the attacking cudgels will rest on the shoulders of Edgar da Silva and Dejan Damjanovic, who have yet to fulfill their potential with the squad.

In their game against the defending champions, neither found the back of the net although they had their chances.

Dejan Damjanovic had his only chance around the 20th minute, but he failed to convert his sixth goal of ths season. Edgar da Silva, meanwhile, didn’t get much rhythm as he came off the bench.

Against a lowly squad in Incheon United, they have a chance to work on their partnership once more. However, team manager Lee Byeung-keun should probably consider getting these two together in the starting XI to make this possible.

Time is running out for Incheon United

The K-League 2020 results hasn’t been good for Incheon United as they are still searching for their first win of the season.

Their horrid outing after 15 matchdays isn’t necessarily because of their lack of trying given that some of those fixtures were close calls.

In the month of July, Incheon United almost scored upsets against powerhouses in Sangju Sangmu, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, and Pohang Steelers. But unfortunately, they weren’t able to close them out.

Especially against the military men and the defending champions, the Mariners drew first blood in those matches and they had the lead for big stretches up until their opponents would score the equaliser.

And then come August, they were beaten badly by Gwangju FC and Seongnam FC due to their leaky defence.

The Mariners have brought in Jo Sung-hwan to take over the coaching reins. But given the roster’s poor quality and depth, they are going to be in a world of pain.

History

Surprisingly, Incheon United own the slight edge in terms of their head-to-heads against Daegu FC.

In their 26 meetings, the Mariners won in eight occasions while the Sky Blues have won seven times along with 11 draws.

Their two previous fixtures ended in low-scoring draws. However, Incheon United have yet to win against Daegu FC since October 2018.

Betting Tip

??
Daegu FC vs Incheon United Daegu FC Asian Handicap -1.25 @ 2.19
August 16, 18:00 (GMT+8)

Daegu FC are the obvious favourites to win in this game. The Sky Blues are priced at 1.48, while Incheon United are priced low at 6.00 and a draw is also unlikely at 4.20, as per the 1×2 market.

Since goals aren’t plenty for this specific matchup historically, it is also highly recommended that you place your wagers on Under 2.50 @ 1.87.

Despite having injury doubts, the home club has much better quality and depth compared to their visitors. Moreover, expect Daegu manager Lee Byeung-kyun to use more of his bench players as they prepare for the tougher games ahead.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
