K-League: In-Form Daegu Set to Keep Busan Winless

Busan I’Park vs Daegu FC

Daegu FC are officially back to being one of the most dangerous teams in the K-League. Their matchup against a struggling FC Seoul team over the weekend turned into a complete demolition as Daegu stormed to a 6-0 win.

Daegu now have a great shot at claiming their third win in a row as they take on another struggling side in Busan I’Park.

Busan are one of just two sides left without a win this season, and the K-League 2020 odds will be against them as they take on Daegu’s in-form attack led by their brilliant Brazilian duo.

Talking Points

Busan’s broken attack

Busan I’Park still can’t get their season going. They suffered their third defeat in six matches as they went down 3-1 to Gwangju FC. Before that loss, they had drawn three games in a row.

The Royals put up decent performances against both Jeonbuk and Ulsan earlier this season, but they have been unable to translate their performances into points, particularly against lesser opposition.

Scoring goals has been their main issue. They have just four goals through six games — the second-fewest behind bottom club Incheon United — and two of those goals were from the penalty spot. Lee Jeong-hyeop and Romulo have two goals apiece.

Wide forwards Kim Byung-oh and Lee Dong-joon still haven’t contributed, in part due to a lack of consistent service from the midfield.

The team’s inability to create many goals has put even more pressure on the team’s defence, particularly young goalkeeper Kim Jeong-ho. The 22-year-old performed well in his first two matches of the season, but he made a crucial error which led to Sangju Sangmu’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw, then conceded three more goals against Gwangju.

Kim won’t have it much easier as he now takes on one of the most in-form attacking sides in the league.

Daegu FC looking so dangerous

Daegu FC got their season up and running after a 2-1 away win against a previously unbeaten Seongnam team. Their Brazilian duo of Cesinha and Edgar inspired Daegu to victory, with the former supplying two goals.

Cesinha had another brilliant outing against FC Seoul. He scored the opener after just 10 minutes, then set up two more goals en route to a 6-0 win, the club’s largest margin of victory in the K-League. Kim Dae-Won also created his first K-League 2020 highlights of the season as he bagged a brace.

Daegu were somewhat fortunate that Seoul FC scored two own-goals, one of which came after a missed penalty. But they were clearly the better team and were worthy winners.

Daegu remained in fifth as the top four teams all picked up points. But they did climb to 10 goals scored, which is tied with defending champions Jeonbuk for the third-most goals scored thus far this season.

With Edgar, Cesinha, and Kim Dae-Won, Daegu have arguably the most dangerous attacking trio in the league at the moment. They should relish going up against a Busan backline that is growing short of confidence.

Meanwhile, Daegu’s own defence has been performing reasonably well. They have conceded just five goals in their first six games, with only defending champions Jeonbuk the only side to score more than two goals against them.

History

There isn’t too much history with Daegu FC and Busan I’Park since they haven’t spent much time in the same division. Their only meetings in the K-League 1 came in the 2013 season, both of which Busan won 1-0.

But Daegu have a great opportunity to end their losing skid over Busan away from home. Daegu are undefeated in nine of their last 10 away matches dating back to last season.

Betting Tip

??
Busan I’Park vs Daegu FC 1X2 Daegu FC @ 2.08
June 17, 19:00 (GMT+8)

SBOBET odds have Busan I’Park priced at 3.25 to get their first win of the season at home against Daegu, who are 2.18 favourites to grab a third-straight win. A draw is 3.15.

It’s hard to make a case for Busan picking up a positive result against Daegu. Their form has been awful, and the lack of goals in the side is worrisome.

On the other hand, Daegu are brimming with confidence at the moment with their in-form Brazilians leading the way, and they also happen to be strong away from home.

It’s unlikely that Daegu smash in six goals once again, but they should still have more than enough firepower to win and keep Busan waiting for that elusive first victory of the season.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
