RB Leipzig vs Schalke 04
Two of the hottest teams in the Bundesliga are set to lock horns as RB Leipzig will get to host the visiting Schalke 04 at the Red Bull Arena for the league’s sixth match day.
After a tough draw against defending champions Bayern Munich, the Red Bulls outclassed Werder in their next match with a final tally of 3-0.
Meanwhile, Schalke are on a winning streak by winning against Hertha BSC, Paderborn, and Mainz in a three-week span. The David Wagner-mentored squad is on an upward trajectory as they gun for a top-six finish.
Can Schalke deal RB Leipzig its first defeat of the season? Or will the home team halt Schalke’s winning streak?
Today, we provide some insights on what’s ahead on Saturday while we give our SBOBET predictions for this match.
Talking Points
RB Leipzig firing on all cylinders
It’s no secret that the Red Bulls have done so well since the arrival of Julian Nagelsmann at the coaching helm. The attacking trio of Marcel Sabitzer, Timo Werner, and Yussuf Poulsen has been instrumental to their strong start of the season.
They’ve accounted for eight out of their 13 total goals for this term and their chemistry is just getting better as they go along. With Marcel Sabitzer acting primarily as the main playmaker, Nagelsmann unlocked another dimension to his game especially with the likes of Timo Werner and Yussuf Poulsen freely roaming into the box for easy goals.
The Red Bulls’ defence looks to be stronger than ever after conceding only 29 goals last season. So far, Die Rotten Bullen only gave up three goals in their first five matches and they are on pace to even surpass their record last term.
Even with the ejection of Konrad Laimer in their game against Werder, the 10-man RB Leipzig squad managed to post a clean sheet. Buoyed by the strong 3-1-4-2 formation with the likes of Willi Orban, Ibrahima Konate, and Peter Gulacsi at the backline, Werder only managed to generate one shot on target.
The jury is still out on whether RB Leipzig are ready to challenge for a title. But compared to seasons past, their collective experience and hunger might just give them the edge in this campaign.
Schalke 04 on a roll
Like RB Leipzig, Schalke have been hitting their stride with David Wagner as their manager, especially when they were almost relegated last season. The Royal Blues are well within their expectations as they now sit at the fifth of the table with 10 points.
The impressive start can be owed to the exciting and inspired play of Amine Harit. The Moroccan international was awarded as their first Player of the Month as he leads the team in goals scored with two. Along with Harit, other players like Jonjoe Kenny, Weston McKennie, Omar Mascarell, and Alex Nubel have played well too as they continue to produce some of the best Bundesliga 2019 highlights.
But even with their early success, Wagner won’t allow his club to be complacent. He mentioned that Schalke still have lots of room to improve and they have to be the aggressors in their next games.
“We have been too passive in some situations and have missed some chances. There’s still a ways to go, but we are on the right track,” mentioned Wagner.
It would also help if they can get a healthier squad moving forward. Nabil Bentaleb and Benito Raman are out with injuries but their return is expected to further strengthen their defence.
History
The Red Bulls have a 3-1 edge against Schalke along with two draws in their six encounters. RB Leipzig’s last Bundesliga fixture against Schalke was in Gelsenkirchen last March when striker Timo Werner scored the marginal goal for a 1-0 tally.
The Julian Nagelsmann –mentored squad have scored more than two goals in six of their last seven matches, and they’ll look to keep that trend going up against Schalke.
Schalke, meanwhile, have failed to score in their last two matches against the Red Bulls.

For this game, Bundesliga 2019 betting tips have RB Leipzig at 1.55 and Schalke at 5.20, while odds for a draw are placed at 4.30.
Initially, I had a hard time on picking the victor on this one. However, I would have to give the edge to the Red Bulls given their dominant form as of late. It also helps that they’ll get to play at home.
With RB Leipzig rounding into form, it’s hard to envision any team that can stop them besides the likes of Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund.
